This is a permanent, full-time position (min. 40 hours per week)

Qu Biologics is a private, clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company located in Vancouver, BC, that develops Site
Specific Immunomodulators (SSIs) which are designed to restore the body's normal immune function to reverse
the chronic inflammation underlying many conditions including cancer and inflammatory bowel diseases. Qu
Biologics has three clinical trials currently underway in Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis and recurrent lung
cancer.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
This job posting is for a full-time (1.0 FTE) position. The successful candidate must be a results-oriented “do-er”
who is looking to roll up their sleeves and do whatever it takes to get the job done.
Specific duties and responsibilities will include:




Oversee design and execution of Qu’s Preclinical and Translational research programs, including
managing and mentoring Qu laboratory/research personnel, establishing timelines, tracking progress,
analyzing and reporting results
Contribute to Qu’s overall R&D strategy, ensuring that Qu’s research programs are fully aligned with
Qu’s priorities and vision
Articulate and communicate Qu’s science effectively both internally, and externally
Working collaboratively to develop innovative hypotheses to advance Qu’s technology in the context of
cancer and immune-related diseases, integrating new advances in immunology and immunotherapies

Develop relationships and liaise with external collaborators and manage projects with these
collaborators at both academic institutions and contract research organizations (CROs), to ensure that
research priorities are being executed quickly, efficiently and cost-effectively
Play an active role in developing new intellectual property (IP) and enhancing existing IP
Identify potential new applications for Qu’s technology, analyse the feasibility of these indications, and
report back to the leadership team
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS






Significant scientific leadership experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical company
Graduate degree (PhD) in Life/Health Sciences; research experience in inflammatory diseases and/or
cancer a strong asset
Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across crossfunctional teams
Excellent collaboration, leadership and project management skills, proficient at making decisions in an
efficient, collaborative, fast-paced environment
Keen interest and experience in selecting high functioning passionate team members, mentoring junior
members, and creating high performance teams
A clear track record of excellence, successfully delivering results on time and on budget
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS





A minimum of 10 years of relevant post-graduate scientific leadership experience, including at least 5
years in biotech/pharma; exceptional candidates with academic leadership experience may be
considered
Direct experience with in vivo models of cancer and/or autoimmune disease
Expertise in immunologic and pharmacologic assay systems
Clinical research experience, i.e., correlative immunology research and biomarker identification using
human primary samples
Demonstrated success with non-dilutive and/or competitive research grant applications
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
Fluent English

COMPENSATION
Salary negotiable, depending upon qualifications and leadership experience. Complete compensation package
will include stock options, three (3) weeks annual vacation, a health care spending account, and free onsite
parking
