Feast of Our Lord Jesus Christ,
King of the Universe
“….giving thanks to the Father, who has made
you fit to share in the inheritance of the holy
ones in light.” (Colossians 1:12) God wants us
to be happy! Instead of looking at the Ten
Commandments as being restrictive and telling
us what we can’t do, look at them as guides for
living a joy-filled and peaceful life. Most of our
problems arise when we put our own needs first
or spend most of our time trying to acquire
“things”. Try putting God first in all things
instead.

HOW DO I PRAY?
Various forms of prayer are presented in the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC 2623-2649). These various forms include prayer of
blessing or adoration, prayer of petition, prayer of intercession, prayer of thanksgiving, and prayer of praise.
WHAT IS MEDITATION?
"Meditation is above all a quest."
Meditation is a Christian practice of prayer dating back to the early Church. As the Catechism states: "Meditation is above all a quest. The
mind seeks to understand the why and how of the Christian life, in order to adhere and respond to what the Lord is asking." By meditating on
the Gospels, holy icons, liturgical texts, spiritual writings, or "the great book of creation," we come to make our own that which is God's. "To
the extent that we are humble and faithful, we discover in meditation the movements that stir the heart and we are able to discern them. It is
a question of acting truthfully in order to come into the light: "Lord, what do you want me to do?" (CCC 2705-2706).
Meditation is an essential form of Christian prayer, especially for those who are seeking to answer the vocational question, "Lord, what do
you want me to do?"

GROUPS:
HIJAS DE MARIA: Gir ls that want to gr ow in faith by
imitating the virtues of the Virgin Mary.
CATECHIST: In gener al, one who teaches the essentials
of Christian faith and morals. The term also has the technical
meaning of one who gives instruction in Catholic doctrine,
especially in mission lands or among people who are not baptized or who are dechristianized. As one of the supernatural
charisms of knowledge, it is the special gift of being able to
teach the faith with extraordinary effectiveness.
OBLATAS EXTERNAS: Spanish gr oup of ladies that
enjoy the sister Oblates to the divine love, and whose spiritual
ground is the love for the Most Holy Eucharist.
DAMAS DEL SAGRADO CORAZON DE JESUS: Spanish groups pf ladies that devote themselves to the most sacred
heart of Jesus. They pray for the sick, visit them, and also
pray rosary for those who have died.
LEGION OF MARY: The object of the Legion of Mar y is
the glory of God through the holiness of its members developed by prayer and active co-operation in Mary’s and the
Church’s work. The unit of the Legion of Mary is called a
praesidium, which holds a weekly meeting, where prayer is
intermingled with reports and discussion. Persons who wish
to join the Legion must apply for membership in a Praesidium. The Legion sees as its priority the spiritual and social
welfare of each individual. The members participate in the
life of the parish through visitation of families, the sick, both
in their homes and in hospitals and through collaboration in
every apostolic and missionary undertaking sponsored by the
parish. Every legionary is required to carry out a weekly apostolic work in the spirit of faith and in union with Mary.
YOUTH MINISTRY: Pr e-confirmation, confirmation, and
all the pastoral care for the youth is what makes this ministry
5- 951
So vital for the future of our community and the entire society. Our youth is the one with the power to change the world
by choosing God in every single aspect of life.
IS TIME TO BE PART OF ONE OR MORE OF
THESE GROUPS
MINISTRIES:
LECTORS: The reader reads from the ambo the readings that
precede the Gospel. In the absence of a psalmist, the reader
may also proclaim the Responsorial Psalm after the First
Reading.
In the absence of a Deacon, the reader, after the introduction
by the Priest, may announce the intentions of the Universal
Prayer from the ambo.
If there is no singing at the Entrance or at Communion and
the antiphons given in the Missal are not recited by the faithful, the reader may read them at an appropriate time (cf. nos.
48, 87). (GIRM, nos. 196-198)
EXTRAORINARY EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS:
All ministers of Holy Communion should show the greatest
reverence for the Most Holy Eucharist by their demeanor,
their attire, and the manner in which they handle the consecrated bread or wine.
The proper and only permissible form for distributing Holy
Communion is to offer the consecrated bread by saying, "The
Body of Christ" and to offer the consecrated wine by saying,
"The Blood of Christ." No other words or names should be
added; and the formula should not be edited in any way. (Cf.
GIRM, 161; 284-287).
ALTAR SERVERS:
Serving at the altar, pope Francis told the young people, is a
privileged way to draw closer to Jesus, which in turn "enables
you to open yourselves to others, to journey together, to set
demanding goals and to find the strength to achieve them."
"The closer you are to the altar," he told them, "the more you
will remember to speak with Jesus in daily prayer; the more
you will be nourished by the word and the body of the Lord,
the better able you will be to go out to others, bringing them
the gift that you have received, giving in turn with enthusiasm
the joy you have received.
CHOIRS:
from the Catechism of the Catholic Church, # 1157:
"Song and music fulfill their function as signs in a manner all
the more significant when they are "more closely connected .
. . with the liturgical action," according to three principal
criteria: beauty expressive of prayer, the unanimous participation of the assembly at the designated moments, and the solemn character of the celebration. In this way they participate
in the purpose of the liturgical words and actions: the glory of
God and the sanctification of the faithful:
How I wept, deeply moved by your hymns, songs, and the
voices that echoed through your Church! What emotion I
experienced in them! Those sounds flowed into my ears,
distilling the truth in my heart. A feeling of devotion surged
within me, and tears streamed down my face -- tears that did
me good. (St. Augustine, Convessions 9:6, 14)

Solemnidad de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo, Rey del
Universo
adquirir "cosas". Trata en cambio de poner a Dios
primero en todas las cosas.
