Casegroup DA 5 year old girl is referred to BUMM

Casegroup D
A 5 year old girl is referred to BUMM because of slow language development and behavioral
problems. She was born after normal pregnancy and delivery and seemed to have a rather
normal development until the age of one year. However, she did not develop good language
skills, and still has more or less an “echo language” meaning that she repeats what other
says but doesn’t really seem to have a communicative language of her own.
She has had great social difficulties during the daycare period and is isolated from the peers.
She has “a ritual behavior” with stereotypic movements and when new events occur for
which she is not prepared she has aggressive outbreaks.
During the assessment, the doctor does not have a good emotional contact and verbal
communication is not possible.
