THE WAY OF DECISION TO STUDY MUSIC MASTER’S DEGREE OF
BACHELOR STUDENTS IN THE UNIVERSITY OF BANGKOK AREA

Abstract- The study demand of interested to studying music master’s degree from music bachelor students in the University
of only Bangkok area. This research analyse by questionnaire about the decision to study master’s degree (at the university
around Thailand) from only fourth year or last year bachelor students of 10 university in Bangkok including: 1) Suan
Sunandha Rajabhat University. 2) Barnsomdej Jaopraya Rajabhat University. 3) Chantara Kasem Rajabhat University. 4)
Pranakorn Rajabhat University. 5) Chulalongkorn University. 6) Kasetsatara University. 7) Srinakarintarawirot University.
8) Rama Karmhang University. 9) Silapakorn University. 10) Krungtep Thonburi University. The questionnaire study
student’s decision from many factors how to decide study music master’s degree or refuse such as the prospect to career, the
facility of spending, the influence from family, the attitude and the other factor. Result can make guideline for many
universities when they want to create curriculum for master’s degree in the future. The result showing the bachelor student
interested to study music master’s degree in many subject of music and many university in each province such as music
education the first popular to studying at Phayab University(Chiang-mai Province),Mahidol University(Nakorn Pratom
Province), Mahasarakarm University(Mahasarakarm Province),Bansomdej Jaopraya Rajabhat University(Bangkok
Province),Chulalongkorn University(Bangkok Province). The second is musicology at SrinaKarin Tarawirot University
(Bangkok Province) , KornKan University(Kornkan Province)The third is music performance at Mahidol University,
Mahasarakarm University.And the last one is music composition at Mahidol University,Chulalongkorn University

the performing art generally comprises an event in
which a performer or group of performers present one
or more work of art to an audience. 3) Music
education is a field of study associated with
the teaching and learning of music. It touches on all
learning domains, including the psychomotor domain
(the development of skills), the cognitive domain (the
acquisition of knowledge), and, in particular and
significant ways, the affective domain (the learner's
willingness to receive, internalize, and share what is
learned),
including music
appreciation and
sensitivity. Music training from preschool through
post-secondary education is common in most nations
because involvement with music is considered a
fundamental
component
of
human culture and behavior. Music, like language, is
an accomplishment that distinguishes humans as a
species. 4) Musicology is the scholarly analysis of,
and research on, music, a part of humanities. A
person who studies music is a musicologist and
musicology study about classical music or western
music.
For Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University researcher
working that taught early music majors at the
graduate level, but has not taught in the master’s
degree or doctor’s degree before. From now we can
use the information obtained from this research as a
guide to developing a curriculum to teach master and
doctor’s degree in the future.
I. INTRODUCTION
The present there are many universities in Thailand
had to focus on musical subject and opened to the
bachelor’s degree majors in many universities.
Include the university had taught music before and
the university had taught music at the newly opened
recently. Some universities extended the syllabus to
postgraduate from master’s degree and Ph.D. too. But
some universities also teach specific in bachelor’s
degree only. If the interested students want to
continue their education master's degree in music
they must go to another university who had master’s
degree support. But some students who do not
continue their education, because they may go on to
careers related to musical or not related and some
may go on to study at postgraduate level in other
subject that are not about music. It may have big
factor make many universities are not confidence to
teach a master’s degree or doctor’s degree. Because
of no confidence in the potential to compete with
other universities that teach it and also not ensure the
interest of students who had completed Bachelor's
degree to a master's or not.
For the popular musical subject in Thailand today are
four major branches is a music composition, music
performance, music education and musicology. (By
this detail) 1) Music composition can refer to an
original piece of music, the structure of a musical
piece, or the process of creating a new piece of music.

II. DETAILS EXPERIMENTAL
This research is quantitative analysis research from
the respondents of fourth year or last year bachelor
music students of university in Bangkok area by
questionnaire. The questionnaire is the subject of sex,
age, majoring, university, residence, requirements to
study master’s degree or not, reasons to Study, reason
to not study, music subject requirement to study.
Analyzed by 152 respondent students (from Krejcie
and Morgan table system) of 10 universities in
Bangkok area

The analysis of 152 questionnaires for 152 sampling
was answered by the questions set forth below.

The fourth or last interested subject is music
composition because they want to be a professional
composer this subject is thought at Mahidol
University,Chulalongkorn University.
From the answer of questionnaire showing the
interested students is 52.63% of sampling 152 person
and don’t interested 47.37 % of sampling 152 person.
It’s almost balance between interested and don’t
interested students
The first interested subject is music
education because they want to be a career as a music
teacher this subject thought at PhayabUniversity
