SESSION 12: SLIDE SORTER VIEW -ARRANGE, DELETE AND ADD SLIDES

So far you have learnt to view a presentation using the Slide Show view. Another
view that is frequently used in presentations is the Slide Sorter view.
Slidesorterviewisawindowthat displays thumbnail versions (small size) of all your
slides, arranged in horizontal rows. This view is helpful when you want to:
o Make global changes to several slides at one time.
o Rearranging or deleting slides.
o Move, copy, or delete a lot of slides.
However, there is a limitation that you cannot edit the contents of a slide in this
view. To edit the contents of a slide you can use the Normal view. In Slide Sorter
view, a presentation looks like the one in Figure 11.1.

To view the slides in a Slide sorter
view, click the option Slide Sorter tab.
To add a slide in Slide Sorter view:

There are 3 positions in which you can add new slides in a Slide Sorter view.
1. End of Presentation:
How? Using Insert menu, when no slide is selected:-
a. Click anywhere on the workspace. Doing so ensures that no slide is
selected.
b. From the Insert menu click Slide. This will insert a new slide at the
end of the presentation.
2. Between Slides:
How? By right-clicking between two slides:a. Right-click between any two slides and select New Slide from the
shortcut menu that appears. This will insert a new slide between two
slides.
3. After Selected Slide:
How? Using Insert menu, when a slide is selected:a. Select the slide after which you
want to insert a new slide.
b. From the Insert menu click
Slide. This will insert a new slide
after the selected slide.
You can add the three slides, given adjacent
using one of the above methods.
To delete a slide in Slide Sorter view:
1. Select the slide to be deleted.
2. Press the Delete key on your keyboard
or select Edit dropdown menu and click
Delete Slide.The selected slide is
deleted.
To move a slide in this view:
1. Select the slide to be moved, and drag
it with the left button of the mouse
pressed, to the place, where you want
to move the slide.
2. You can also select multiple slides by
using the combination of Shift key
(forslides adjacent to one another) or
Ctrl key (for slides at different
positions in the presentations) and the
left button of mouse.
Try selecting multiple slides and deleting them together. Also try selecting three
slides and then moving them together into another place.
