PDQ (Position Description Questionnaire) – UNCW The PDQ process allows employees and supervisors to describe the critical elements of work and responsibilities of EHRA Non-Faculty and SHRA positions at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. The PDQ will serve two primary functions: a) To provide current, accurate, and updated position descriptions with no change in classification. b) To update a position for reclassification. A reclassification of a position should only be completed when a significant change in job duties occurs. The PDQ will give information about the duties and responsibilities of an employee’s position and will serve as the basis for job description specifications. While employees and supervisors are encouraged to work collaboratively to complete the PDQ, the supervisor is ultimately accountable for establishment of the work assigned, as well as the completeness and accuracy of the PDQ. This document provides the information associated with reclassification and updating job duties within PeopleAdmin. Roles in completing PDQs: For an update in job description, individual employees are responsible for working with their supervisors to complete the PDQ. Managers are responsible for reviewing completed PDQs and communicating with employees on any amendments. Managers are also responsible for entering or updating position descriptions in PeopleAdmin based on PDQs. HR Class & Comp is responsible for reviewing and approving updated position descriptions in PeopleAdmin. Tips for completing PDQs: Describe the current position duties/descriptions of work that are typically performed in a bulleted list. Avoid jargon, spell out acronyms, and define technical terms to help keep PDQs consistent. Exclude temporary assignments and responsibilities. Use position titles or roles when referring to others at UNCW. SHRA PDQ: The following information will be used when modifying a position in PeopleAdmin.
