PHONE: (972) 562-2601 Chris Edward Haga November 17, 1959 - June 25, 2016 Chris Edward Haga was born on November 17, 1959, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, the son of Paul and Waneta Haga. He grew up in Stillwater, and in 1985, he earned his Bachelor’s degree at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, majoring in Electrical Engineering Technology. In 1995 he earned his Master’s degree in Business Administration at the University of Dallas. While working at the Stillwater News Press, he met DeLayne Griffiths, who worked for a client of the newspaper company. Although their paths crossed for two years with little more than a polite “Hello,” it was their co-workers who helped encourage Chris to ask her out on their first date in July 1983. They married on July 7, 1984, in Stillwater. A year later, they moved to Midland, Texas, where they both worked for Texas Instruments. He was a Product Engineer and was promoted to Section Manager. He later worked in Quality Control and worked a total of 31 years for Texas Instruments. Their son Chad Eric was born in 1988 in Midland. After transferring to Sherman, Texas, their second son Christopher “Shane” was born in 1991. Chris was active in his sons’ lives and helped develop their love for sports. He coached both of the boys’ baseball teams for several years and attended as many of their other school and sporting events as possible, even when they were in college. Chris had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh and make other people laugh. He was an inspirational writer and loved to share his faith through his blog about his cancer journey at CancerOn2Wheels.blogspot.com. He also tried to bring awareness about lung cancer to the public and mentored cancer survivors. Chris was active in his former churches and served as a deacon. He was on the stage crew for the Christmas Pageant and the evening services, served as the Director of their adult Sunday school class, was a team leader in the children’s ministry AWANAS, hosted a marriage enrichment group, and directed traffic in the parking lot on Sunday mornings. At the time of his death, he was a member of Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco, Texas. Chris, age 56, passed away on June 25, 2016, from lung cancer. He had never smoked. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of almost 32 years, DeLayne Haga, his son Chad and future daughter-in-law Kate Williams, son Shane Haga, his sister Joyce McCroskey and her husband Larry, sister Cathy Humphrey and her husband Rick, sister Sherri Cochran and her husband Ken, brother Randy Haga and his wife Molly, brother Gary Haga, and numerous nieces and nephews. My condolences and prayers for his wife and family. KATIE BROWN, JULY 5, 2016 My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family and friends of Chris Haga. I knew him from my time with Texas Instruments and worked along side his spouse Delayne. Chris is in a much better place and his suffering has ended. Rejoice in these thoughts of him beside his savior Jesus Christ. My prayers go out to Delayne and her children and family of Chris. May God bless you and keep you! EDWARD LINDEMAN, JUNE 30, 2016 I have not met a finer man...an example for those who desire to be a good father, husband, and friend to all. Chris will be missed by not just his loving family, but also by those he encountered in daily life. My prayers are for peace for the family and all who mourn for Chris. ART NELSON, JUNE 29, 2016 My prayers and thoughts are with your family. I never actually saw Chris until seeing his picture here because I work at TI in Tucson. I spoke to him many many times as we worked together and he gave me direction on how a particular job needed to be done. I can only imagine your grief. Yet we don't cry as those without hope because we know that he ran his race and is now in the presence of his Savior Jesus and you will see him again. In Jesus name I pray that the Lord would give each one of you, through His Comforter, the strength, assurance and peace you would need at this time and in the days to come. Love in Christ, Maria MARIA ELENA SOTOMAYOR, JUNE 28, 2016 Our sympathies for your loss. Your family will be in our thoughts and prayers. DONNA JOHNSON, DIDRIKSON ASSOCIATES, JUNE 28, 2016 Had brief conversation with Chris last year and I can see he is a very humble and nice person. We will miss him...My thoughts and prayers are with Chris's family. Senthil SENTHIL, JUNE 27, 2016 What a beautiful story of the life of a great man who loved his Lord and family. He will be sorely missed. Please know that his life well-lived has been a blessing to all who knew him and to others who only knew of him. My friend Amy Smith in Pryor Oklahoma has prayed for Chris and his family for many years, never meeting you all in person. Yet she tells me often how his faith inspired her many times over. What more could a man want than for his life to have touched so many lives by his faith and examples. I pray that God will pour out his love and peace on you today and in the days ahead. The chorus from one of my favorite songs tells us: "Jesus said come to the water; stand by my side. I know you are thirsty; you won't be denied. I felt every teardrop when in darkness you cried; and I strove to remind you, that for those tears I died." There are no in heaven but for we who have not yet reached our heavenly homes, remember that God bottles our tears while our earthly hearts mourn. God Bless you DeLayne, Chad and Shane and Chris' extended family. JANET JOHNSON, JUNE 27, 2016 We are keeping you and your Family in our thoughts and Prayers during this difficult time, but being reminded that God is in charge and he has his loving arms around you giving you comfort and strength to guide you to a peaceful heart. God bless you DeLayne for being the Loving, Devoted wife you were to Chris. Stan and Linda Long STAN AND LINDA (MCCROSKEY) LONG, JUNE 27, 2016 You are in my prayers.
