It is a question we seldom ask. The consciousness of ownership is rarely reflected in our daily discourse. But it is a question very pertinent to the existence of any institution. Our school is an organic body where amongst all stakeholders - faculty, staff, parents and students; the students remain the paramount component. The reason a school exists is for the benefit of its students. Hence, naturally, the students own the school. We care for our possessions and hold them dear. But as students we need to ask whether we value the institution that we own. The character of a school is the sum total of the character of its students. The realization among students that they own the school would be the key to building a healthy culture which would last. - Mr. Avinash Kashyap Faculty Advisors: Akshita Singh, Ishrita Kataria, Priya Kulshrestha and Satya Shrava Sharma English Update In the latest addition to the dictionary, about one hundred and fifty new words and definitions have been shortlisted from over one thousand entries. Every human, irrespective of his/her religion is the creation of same God, then how is it possible that one is good and others are bad. Every religion preaches the existence of one God. We should inculcate in us a tolerant attitude, care and have love for others as we are the children of the Almighty. The creation is in the creator and creator is in the creation. The clay is same but the designer has designed it in many ways. There is nothing wrong with the pot of clay, there is nothing wrong with the potter, One Lord resides in all and he is the One who makes us all. Shoaib Akhtar (Class XII) Lyceum Club- Making a Point ! The latest presentation of the Lyceum Club was on 'The Constitution of Nepal and its Impact on Indo-Nepal Relations'. The presentation was very informative and highlighted how India is trying to manipulate another democratic country's right to frame its own constitution. While Nepal's Constitution has been lauded for ending monarchy, recognizing gay and lesbian rights and adopting secularism, it has been severely criticized for its citizenship laws, discrimination against women and the Madhesis. India has unofficially expressed dissent by imposing economic sanctions on Nepal so that it changes some provisions of its constitution. Whereas, India is right in thinking about the welfare of the citizens of Nepal, India should not interfere in the internal affairs of another sovereign country. It was concluded that building of a strong public opinion and collective action is the key to any substantive change that the Nepalese want to bring about in their Constitution. Looking forward now to the next week's presentation on another thought provoking topic! Article of the Month - Agony Aunt It was the start. She learned her first word. Took her in my arms, playing, taking her everywhere I go. Then her first steps, walking towards me. Her big eyes, curious eyes, wondering why the world stares at her. Then her brand new 'Hello Kitty' stationary range and her purple backpack. Her first best friend, the weird handshakes and drawings saying 'BFF'. Then the new upgrade, rock music, van, Skype and her clique. Drifting away, then the university trip and the phase of settling down. Relationships then marriages leaving me alone, calling a few times. My time has come. No one is there, except “Wait! Oh it's her”. The voice, her pleasant voice. I'm blind but I can hear her saying “I love you mom, thank you” and that was all I needed. Q Biz Making Headway !
