TRES AÑOS DE FELICIDAD
I can’t believe that I have been your pastor for
three years, my dear Saint Teresa Church! It
was hard to miss that last weekend, when I
was at dinner with some parishioners, reminiscing the past three years that flew by. If
the schedule is followed, that means that I have
reached the halfway mark of my pastorate here.
¡Apenas puedo creer que he sido su pastor
por tres años, mi querida Iglesia Santa Teresa! Fue dificil no estar presente el pasado
fin de semana en la comida con algunos feligreses, recordando los tres años pasados
que han volado. Si seguimos el plan, eso quiere decir
que estoy a mediación de mi pastorado aquí.
I want to take this chance to thank our ministries
and commissions, especially our Parish Council who
have been there to give me advise and help me
have a better and broader perspective of the parish
as a whole, as well as the Finance Board for their
efficient and generous efforts to keep us healthy
and responsible. Most of all, I thank the staff, all
those that worked with me at the office and shared
some great time of laughter and serious planning
and execution of all the many things that we do
throughout the year.
Quiero tomar esta oportunidad para dar las gracias a
nuestros ministerios y comisiones, especialmente a
nuestro Consejo Parroquial que me han dado consejo y
ayuda para tener una mejor y amplia perspectiva de la
parroquia en general, como también la Mesa Financiera por sus esfuerzos eficientes y generosos para mantener-nos saludables y responsables. Sobre todo, doy
las gracias al personal, todos los que han trabajado
conmigo en la oficina y compartiendo algún gran tiempo alegre y planeación seria y ejecución de todas las
muchas cosas que hacemos a través del año.
Two of my priest friends and former classmates who
are now teachers at Mundelein Seminary came to
visit me on Monday evening. I showed them the
church, and the facilities here as well as gave them
an idea on how our church operates. They were
overwhelmed by the many things that happen here
and by the many things that the church needs in order to function well. They were impressed by the
way our facilities are being run, and they send their
congratulations for the things that we are doing. I
have to agree that the work that we do here in our
happy, little church is really possible by the grace of
God, and the dedication of our parishioners. It is
amazing how we are able to do all of these, given
the size of our parish.
I want to just say that three years later, my love for
Saint Teresa Church is even more now than ever
before. And my happiness index has also grown
over the last three years too. So as I reach the halfway mark, I want to rededicate myself in the work of
serving and loving the church of Saint Teresa, and I
ask that as we move to the next three years, that we
make the most out of every opportunity we get to
make good, happy, and lasting memories together.

Dos de mis amigos sacerdotes y pasados condiscípulos
que ahora son profesores en el Seminario Mundelein
vinieron a visitarme el lunes por la tarde. Les enseñé
la iglesia, y las facilidades aquí como tambien les dí
una idea de cómo trabaja nuestra iglesia. Estaban
confundidos por las muchas cosas que pasan aquí y
por las muchas cosas que la iglesia necesita para funcionar bien. Estaban impresionados por la manera en
que nuestras facilidades estan en marcha, y ellos envían sus felicitaciones por las cosas que hacemos. Estoy de acuerdo que el trabajo que hacemos aquí en
nuestra felíz, pequeña iglesia es verdaderamente posible por la gracia de Dios, y la dedicación de nuestros
feligreses. Es asombroso el cómo podemos hacer todo
esto, no obstante el tamaño de nuestra parroquia.
Solamente quiero decir que tres años más tarde, mi
amor por la Iglesia Santa Teresa es más hoy que
ántes. Y mi índex de felicidad también ha aumentado
a través de los últimos tres años. Así es que llegué a la
marca media, quiero re-dedicarme en el trabajo de
sevir y amar la Iglesia de Santa Teresa, y pido que sigámos en marcha a los siguientes tres años, que hagámos lo máximo de toda oportunidad que se nos presente para hacer buenos, felíces, y sólidos recuerdos
todos juntos. ¡Dios bendiga nuestra iglesia!

TRAVELING VOCATION CROSS PROGRAM
What is it?
Simply, a cross is passed from one
household to another at Sunday mass. The
household receiving the cross will keep it for one
week and pray for vocations, each day as the
family gathers, (for meals, etc.).
Totus Tuus, ( latin for “Totally Yours” ),
is a summer Catholic youth program dedicated to sharing
the Gospel and promoting the Catholic faith. Our children
joined others from St. Martin’s for a week of activities,
fellowship and worship.
The purpose of the program is to remind
the parish of the need for an increase in
vocations, particularly the priesthood, and to
encourage the entire parish to pray constantly for
vocations.
It is our hope that this experience will
encourage all of us to pray for the gift of
vocations and that our prayer inspires young men
and women to be attentive to the movement of
the Spirit within them and step forward in faith,
with generous hearts, to wherever the Spirit leads
them.

A note from your Nurse: Heat Can Be a Killer—Take Caution
Heat can be a killer! Most of its victims are elderly. Hot weather can place a dangerous strain on your body, especially your
heart. If the burden is too great, heat can make you very sick or even cause death. Many prescription drugs can make you
more vulnerable to the heat. If you take medicine for high blood pressure, nervousness, depression, poor circulation or sleeping, check with your doctor or pharmacist. Heat stress can cause physical and mental changes that are warning signs your
body is in danger. Most people feel hot and uncomfortable during hot weather. They may notice a lack of energy or a loss of appetite.
Other more serious signs are: dizziness, rapid heart beat, diarrhea, nausea, throbbing headache, dry skin with not sweating, chest pain,
weakness, mental changes, breathing problems, vomiting and cramps. If these signs are noted, call your physician immediately.
