Anne Hathaway School council meeting Sept 12, 2016 Welcome Present: Ben, Tom, Kerri, Sylvia, Leeann, Jen, Stephanie,Shelley, Catherine,Staci, Lorrie, Carla Treasurer report Bank Balance 6234.00 to spend Fun fair profit 1798.82. Down from other years. .....silent auction was probably the Coffee fundraiser had 423.00 profit Admin report -See principal report Highlights -Enrollment at 395, -Tom gave a brief rundown of the breakfast/nutrition program, and stressed the need for volunteers -discussion on School "cash online " on how it benefits school, and it's cost. - outdoor quiet shaded area has been done, but it needs council input on how to dress it up for an outdoor classroom Fundraising opportunity Oct 6 and 13 Between 9-2 at wildwood run a food booth. Jen will check with teacher who suggested it, to see if we can one day , otherwise we will have to decline Open house BBQ 530 -630 open house to be followed parents visiting with teachers 630-730 Future of school council Stephanie spoke on a different way to do council. What if council didn't raise funds to pay for school consumables, but instead made community building a events " no charge" Things like BBQ nite, movie night, dances all need to be free admission, still selling food items, but having a free item (such as popcorn) available for all. There will need to be a budget for each event, so costs are manageable, and sustainable for all events Still it boils down to have people to do the work. Need more hands to make Light work. From a lively discussion it was decided to have each event chaired by different volunteers ....I.e Jen & Leean will organize the BBQ on sept 29 Halloween dance on the 28th of Oct organized by Catherine Walsh and Holly Parish Movie night on Nov 18 organized by Shelley and Ben As for fundraising, things like the Elmira Chicken will continue but will need more hands to help, as well as FunFair. It was suggested that having vendors such as Kens Fries come to sell their wares, but having to pay a fee to be at the event. More discussion to ensue on that idea. Council events and fundraisers will be dicussed at each council meeting to ensure there are enough volunteers and ideas to make it work Other Stuff Parents council would like to set up its own Facebook page to communicate with parents. Tom checks with the powers that be at the board to see if and how that can be done Next meeting October 17, 7 pm
