Response Yes, however, if successful, it will be necessary for the applicant to resign the convenorship of a related subordinate group where this is necessary to avoid a conflict of interest. As stated in 3.6 of Volume 3, subordinate groups, such as sub-committee working groups, may be delegated responsibilities for the review of draft deliverables. There is therefore a risk of a conflict of interest if an individual is responsible for leading a review of their own work. To avoid restricting the responsibilities that can be delegated to a working group and/or minimize the risk of a perceived conflict of interest, some sub-committees may insist that a successful applicant resigns their convenorship of a related subordinate group. In other cases, particularly in highly specialist areas, this may not necessarily apply. Individual situations will be assessed on a case by case basis and discussed with the tender and other relevant parties, as appropriate. 2 Can I apply if I am based outside Europe? 3 Did an editorial error in the description of Task SC8.T2 appear in volume 3 of the phase 2 tender documents? Did an editorial error appear in Table 1 of Volume 1 for tasks SC1.T3 and SC1.T4? 4 5 I am retired and just do some ad hoc consultancy without a Company. How do you want me to complete the "Tender Submission Code" in that case? Yes you can apply for a position in a PT. Please be aware however that (online) meetings are scheduled to take place within Europe and within European time zones. Yes, an amendment is included in Tender Amendment No 1 in Annex A to this document. Yes. Amendments are included in Tender Amendment No 2 in Annex B and No 3 in Annex C to this document. Yes, an amendment is included in Tender Amendment No 4 in Annex D to this document. Page 5/8 Annex A Tender amendment No 1 In Volume 3, replace the full title of A.9.1 with: " A.9.1 Task SC8.T2: Material dependant sections of EN 1998-1 " Annex B Tender amendment No 2 In Volume 1, Table 1, replace: SC1.T3 EN 1991-1-4 (Wind) Report on recommended clauses for EN 1991-1-3, -1-4, -1-5 an EN 1991-1-9 (and possibly other Eurocode Parts). Page 6/8 Annex D Tender amendment No 4 In Volume 3, Table 1, replace: Subtask Ref. Sub-task name Brief description, background and reasons for the work Key benefits Output (e.g. new Eurocode part; new or modified clauses in existing Eurocode part) 5 Reinforced Review existing methods of reinforced soil structure design in soil structures different countries. Find common features and align them with the Eurocode’s limit state-plus-partial factor approach, for inclusion in a new section in EN 1997-3. This work would make use of the background research being undertaken by TC250/SC7’s Evolution Group 5 for ‘Reinforced soil’. Reinforced slopes offer the possibility of considerable environmental and cost savings during construction, and yet their design is not covered to an adequate degree in the existing version of Eurocode 7. Many countries have been forced to preserve existing non-limit-state national standards, which differ widely in their approach. This leads to inconsistency and confusion in design of mixed structures incorporating reinforced slopes (e.g. highway slopes and abutments), owing to the need to work with more than one design code and (often) philosophy.
