PGG Wrightson and Ballance run a Cash for Communities Programme and have raised $425,000 for local communities around NZ. Any farmer who purchased Ballance fertiliser on their Wrightson account between 1st September and 30th November 2015 earned $1 per tonne for Sheffield School or their nominated charity. The Art Leadership team will use these funds to contribute to the murals they are planning around Sheffield School. Thanks PGG Wrightsons and Ballance for getting behind your local primary schools. Virtues - Learning in Partnership Please take the time to sit down with your child/ren and discuss this term's virtue 'Collaboration'. Effective 'Collaboration' requires confident sharing and respectful listening. We encourage children to take a risk and share their thoughts in conversations and to be actively involved in team learning and problem solving. For this to take place the children need to listen to what is being said to them and react to those points rather than just thinking about what they're going to say next. This is a challenging task for us as adults, let alone our children. But if we can teach the children the crucial life skill of actively listening and responding to what is being said to them, then they will truly become 'life-long learners that can learn in partnership'. Come in and see Nick or the teachers if you'd like to know more about teaching the skills and art of collaboration with your child/ren. SchoolDocs This is a very timely opportunity to highlight the need for all families to familiarise themselves with our 'SchoolDocs' site.
