a. Customary Work Hours: 8:15am – 4:45pm, Monday – Thursday, 10:00am – 6:30pm Friday
c. Seasonal
d. $15-17 per hour
Position Summary
Camp Destiny Senior Counselors support the day-to-day activities of Destiny’s summer program
Camp Destiny. The Senior Counselor supervises a team of Junior Counselors (ages 15-18) and
Counselors-in-Training (ages 13+), who assist with one of two age groups: Sun for ages 7-9 or
Moon for ages 10-12. As ambassadors of Destiny Arts Center, Camp Destiny Counselors must
embody the our culture of welcome and Destiny’s Peaceful Warriors Code values of Love, Care,
Respect, Responsibility, Honor, and Peace in their interactions with the local community, setting the
example of engaged, respectful communication with everyone they encounter.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Support the Camp Destiny Director, which includes supervising the daily activities of Camp
Destiny: opening and closing circles, arts classes, lunch-time, and recreation.
• Attend the summer staff training on June 10th, 2017.
• Supervise junior counselors and students in either the Sun or Moon groups.
• Role model to all youth the strict adherence to all Destiny rules and expectations.
• Fill in accurate time sheets by the date stated on the annual Payroll Schedule.
Non Physical Demands/Qualifications
• Passionate about working with young people.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to motivate, facilitate and direct.
• Effective interpersonal skills necessary to interact with management, staff, and clients (students &
parents/guardians).
• A strong commitment to the mission, goals and work of Destiny Arts Center.
• Experience working with diverse youth populations.
• Senior Counselors must be at least 18 years old or older.
• Pass Live Scan Test and TB test.
• High school degree or GED preferred.
