C4I – Slide 2
FC BISA (Fire Control Battlefield Information System Application) is the
networked Fires application to provide interoperable digitally aided fires and
rapid information sharing in a digital world.
Defence Targetting Toolset (DTT) - Provides a strategic, operational and
tactical C4I software application that will enable Joint Action through effective
orchestration, coordination and synchronization of Joint Fires and Information
Activities across National and Multinational, Joint and Component levels of
command and below, in accordance with the UK’s Effect Based Approach
(EBA)
Dismounted Joint Fires Integrator (D-JFI) Will provide the User with a
capability to be able to generate and communicate target information from a
dismounted configuration to effector systems for integrated employment of
Joint precision and non-precision fires to achieve tactical success.
C4I – Slide 3
JPM (Joint Point Mensuration) is the defence wide capability that supports
deliberate targeting between tactical and strategic level.
CDM (UK Collateral Damage Model) provides estimates of casualties and
structural damage
NABK (NATO Armaments Ballistic Kernel) is the NATO database for
ballistic calculations and production of firing tables
STA
Surveillance & Target Acquisition
•
Arty Sys STA Sub-Portfolio delivering and sustaining Surveillance & Target Acquisition equipment
for the Joint Fires community.
•
Equipments Supported
– MAMBA
– FIRESTORM
– LCMR
– ASP
– MSTAR
STA
Surveillance & Target Acquisition (Slide 2)
MAMBA (Mobile Artillery Monitoring Battlefield Radar) – BV 206 mounted Weapon
Locating Radar provides a capability to identify enemy mortar, artillery, and rocket firing positions
as well as a warning when such attacks are in progress and present a danger to allied forces.
Undergoing Mid-life extension to take capability out to 2026.
Firestorm Target mensuration and observation capability which is lightweight &
portable enabling dismounted Forward Air Controllers and Forward Observation
Officers to identify and communicate target information which allows precision
target prosecution for fires from both land fires and aircraft. Originally brought into
service as UOR equipment. Due to be replaced by D-JFI in 2020.
STA
Surveillance & Target Acquisition (Slide 3)
LCMR (Lightweight Counter Mortar Radar) – Man portable Weapon Location Radar
that provides a capability to identify enemy mortar, Artillery and Rocket firing positions. Brought in
service as a UOR. Currently undergoing activities to bring capability into core.
ASP (Advanced Soundranging Programme) – Trailer transported, passive, acoustic
weapon locating system. Uses acoustic data processing techniques to determine the location of
artillery, mortar, tanks, mine & IED explosions with exceptional accuracy, reliability and speed,
typically within 1% of range at 15 kilometres. Monitors activity over a very large area.Undergoing
Mid-life extension to take capability out to 2026
MSTAR (Man Portable Surveillance & Target Acquisition RADAR) – is a
lightweight all-weather battlefield Doppler radar. Used to acquire and engage targets in bad
visibility or at night. It is capable of detecting, recognizing and tracking tracked and wheeled
vehicles and troops, as well as observing and adjusting the fall of shot. Undergoing Mid-life
extension to take capability out to 2026
