All smiles as dental team shortlisted for a prestigious award Company is in the running to be named Best Practice by Sophie Kitching [email protected] InShort Being shortlisted for a prestigious industry award is a dream come true for Castle Park Dental Care. MAKING people smile is at the core of their company and for the team at a village dental practice, it seems to be paying off. would mean the world for everyone After being encouraged to enter for an industry award, Castle Park Dental Care in Castle Road has been shortlisted in the North East category for the Best Practice at this year’s Dentistry Awards. For owner Chris Branfield, winning the award would be a huge recognition of his and the team’s achievements. He said: “I’ve put my heart and soul into this place, I’ve lived and breathed it. “I’ve had this vision since leaving university of what, ultimately, I would want, but I’ve never had the guts to do it until recently. “To win dental practice of the year involved.” But Mr Branfield said his plans will not stop there. He said: “This is the top dental practice in the country. We’re actually up there with the big boys. “There are 39,000 dentists in the UK and to be up there in the top, you think ‘we’re on it’. “That’s been my dream. I don’t want to stop here, I want to be in the top 5 per cent in the world. “What fills me with pride is when we get the feedback and get the patient testimonials. “This would really be the icing on the cake with the cherry on top.” ‘We are really proud of what we do’ OWNER Chris Branfield said: “When we look back, we are just really proud of what we do. “We are proud of the ethos and proud of the feedback we get from patients. We have invested really heavily these past ,4, couple of years in having a premises that is relaxing.” Mr Branfield, pictured, has also starred in a Sensodyne toothpaste advert and regularly visits Morrocco to help treat children who have no access to dental care. I want to be in the top 5 per cent in the world Chris Branfield Colleagues say they are always striving to improve and the focus is not just on teeth. Practice manager Gillian Fisher said: “We’re extremely proud of what we do. We don’t sit still, we are always looking and learning. “On a personal basis, I think over the past year, since we moved premises, it’s just been great for the team. “We’re not just about teeth, we are about people, the whole package and changing lives.” Ms Fisher said the shortlisting shows how far the company has come since relocating to the Castle Road premises. She said: “I’m proud now to be in the final five. I think it would be such a great message to the rest of the team that we’ve achieved what we set out to do, and look at what we have achieved in the past year and a half. “It’s turned itself around from a small practice that was growing – it is just immense what we’ve achieved and it’s a big vote of thanks to them.” The winner of the North East category will be in the finalists for the best UK practice title. The award ceremony will take place at Art-deco cinema The Athena in Leicester on Friday, December 5.
