The Woodwind Boot Camp is an initiative of the EastWind Reed Quintet in collaboration with the Durham School of the Arts. Major costs are underwritten by Selmer, Yamaha, Rico, Vandoren, and The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. We wish to foster a lifelong love of performing music, believing that everyone should have the opportunity to do so. We accomplish this through performing alongside students in a chamber music setting— professionals and amateurs together. The EastWind Reed Quintet is a resident faculty ensemble in the School of Music, Theatre and Dance at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and is America’s first reed quintet. (A relatively new formation that features oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bass clarinet and bassoon). EastWind has performed extensively and established an enviable reputation regionally, nationally, and internationally. Each member has extensive solo and chamber music experience, which brings strength and creative diversity to the group. Along with formal performances, EastWind has an excellent educational program of lecture/demonstrations and master classes for schools, as well as customized residencies.
