Dear CRIA community members, We are very pleased to announce the day student Tuition and Fees Schedule for the 2016-17 school year and related school improvement plans for next year. CRIA’s continued growth in enrollments has provided us with the opportunity to focus on improving student outcomes within our long range strategic goals. Therefore, the Board has approved zero increases in tuition and fees for the 2016-17 school year. Key strategic action steps for 2016-17 have been approved by the Board of Directors, based upon feedback from teachers, students and parents: 1. The Teacher/Student Ratio shall be maintained at an 8:1 Ratio, with class sizes averaging 15 students (similar to top tier private schools in the US); 2. Community Outreach. Our recent survey indicates that our stakeholders recommend more community service opportunities for our students. Similar to quality schools curricular guidelines, high school students will be able to receive up to one full credit toward graduation requirements from approved community service project hours. Details will be announced by the School Director; 3. Scholarship program for qualified new Costa Rican students. Our survey results indicate that more than 1/3 of our parents would like to donate to a scholarship fund to benefit new Costa Rican enrollments on a merit and needs basis. Details to follow in the coming weeks; 4. Guidance Counseling. A need for guidance counseling has been identified and we have approval to hire a part-time counselor; 5. College Counseling. CRIA is committed to a continued emphasis on our core mission as a college preparatory school, making significant efforts to maintain our impressive history of university acceptances; 6. New Mathematics Program. In keeping with our curriculum cycle for resource updates, we are investing in an excellent mathematics program for K-8 classrooms; and 7. Field Trips. To improve the overall structure and sequencing of field trips, the Board has approved a stipend for a Field Studies Coordinator. With the simplification of the fees schedule (see below), our commitment to at least four meaningful field studies per year shall be maintained. 8. Technology Upgrade. To improve connectivity and reliability of the wifi system, we will undertake investments to increase bandwidth and speed. We have a very good understanding of where our strengths are and our areas for improvement thanks to recent surveys undertaken by the School Improvement Team (SIT). We thank the SIT for all of their hard work, and we are very pleased to see the high overall satisfaction rates maintained. We have enjoyed a historically low student attrition rate last year, and with our continuous school improvement goals we hope that all of you see value in our school and stay within our community in the coming years! In order to simplify the fees schedule, we have combined the Field Trip and Assessment Fee into the matriculation and tuition fees schedule. The Early Bird Discount is maintained, and the new matriculation fee is due by Monday, May 2nd in order to secure your seat for next year.
