Health and Fitness (continued)
The 8 limbs are:
1. Yama is attitude. (Non-violence, truthfulness, nonstealing, control of desire, and non-greed)
2.Nyama is discipline. (Purity, contentment,
discipline, self –study, devotion to a god)
3. Asana is the practice of poses.
4. Pranayama is the control of the breath.
5. Pratyahara is the control of the senses.
6. Dharana is concentration.
7. Dhyana is meditation.
8. Samadhi is self-realization or enlightenment.
The 8 limbs can be practiced one step after the other
or all at once. This depends of the approach of the HathaYoga we practice. My interpretation and understanding
about the 8 limb of Yoga is that it mirrors our own attitude
about life.
The 8 limbs are practiced on the mat; it means attitude
and discipline of the practice, with breath control, focus,
and meditation. But they also are practiced off the mat;
this means our attitude and discipline for each task we start
- from cleaning the house, raising our children, to working
for a company.
Yoga is an art of living, that we discover on a mat
and bring home with us to continue the journey toward a
fulfilled and happy life.

Helping You Stay Healthy
The best way to prevent the flu is to get vaccinated each
year. Everyone over the age of 6 months should get an annual
flue vaccine and it is especially important for individuals with
medical conditions that include:
• Asthma
• Chronic lung disease:
COPD, cystic fibrosis
• Diabetes
• Heart Disease
• Blood disorders
• Pregnant women
• People 65 years of age or older
Individuals who should NOT get a flu vaccine include
anyone who has had a severe allergic reaction to eggs, anyone
who has had a previous reaction to a flu vaccine, or anyone
who has ever had Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) that
occurred after receiving an influenza vaccine.

What is Yoga?
Yoga is a holistic path, including state
of mind, life-style, diet and practice. This is
a journey that leads toward enlightenment.
On the way, we become healthier, happier
and fulfilled.
Yoga has different paths. The one we
know and practice the most in western
countries is Hatha-Yoga. Hatha-Yoga is
a path to find purification of the mind
through purification of the body. HathaYoga includes poses, control of the breath,
and meditation. The practitioners free their
body of pain and stresses in order to clean
their mind and connect to their soul.
The other Yoga paths are:
• Raja-Yoga is the path of meditation.
• Jnana-Yoga is the path of
discernment and wisdom. Through
the study of sacred texts the
practitioners can discriminate the
real from the unreal.
• Karma-Yoga is the path of selfless
service. Any action is accomplished
without thought or expectation of
reward.
• Bakti-Yoga is the path of devotion.
Through prayers, worship and
rituals the practitioners surrender
themselves to the God of his own
religion.
Hatha-Yoga can be subdivided into
“styles”. The different “styles” are in
fact evolution and updates of HathaYoga. Women and men brought their own
perception and interpretation of HathaYoga. They have updated the classical
teachings to fit their ideas and follow the
natural evolution of the world. We have
numerous examples: Mr. BKS Iyengard
developed his own style, as well as Swami
Sivanada. Pattabhi Jois’s style is called
Ashtanga, Bikram Choudhuri created
Bikram, John Friends created Anusara,
and Yogi Bhajan developed Kundalini...
Theses are just some examples of the many
different styles of Hatha-Yoga we can
practice.
However, all these “styles” have
a common final goal: freedom and
enlightenment. They share the same
foundation known as the “8 limbs of
yoga”. Patanjali wrote the yoga-sutra (100
to 500 BC) and described the 8 limbs as
fundamental to the practice of Yoga.

For Your Information
New Clubhouse Business Card/Flyer Procedure
The clubhouse staff is occasionally asked to place flyers
or business cards in the office and on community bulletin
boards by residents and non-residents. For everyone’s benefit,
a procedure is in place to handle these requests:
1. Bulletin boards at the pools and clubhouse only
display information about association events and activities.
2. Residents can have appropriate business cards
displayed in the clubhouse.
3. Flyers for resident activities (e.g. - Yoga, Zumba,
tennis lessons, boot-camp fitness, scrap-booking, swimming
lessons, Polynesian dance classes, etc.) approved by the
association can be accessed via a link on Paseo del Sol’s
website (www.twmc.com/paseodelsol). The registration code
for first time users to access the website is 395 and can only
be accessed by homeowners.
4. The website has a Classified Ads section to display
ads for child care/babysitting services, for rent or sale (no
agents), for sale items, and garage sales.
5. Non-residents may only advertise in the community
newsletter (applicable rates will be charged).
Contact the clubhouse staff at 951-302-3212 with any
questions.
Fall Lawn Care Suggestion
Stop pesky winter weeds in your yard just like you do
their summer counterparts. Apply a pre-emergence herbicide
from mid-October to mid-November.
Missing Family Pets?
Have you, or one of your neighbors ever had a family
pet wander away from the protective confines of your home
or yard? Did you know that there are PdS resources that
may help you get the word out to the neighborhood when
something like this occurs?
Without requiring a password, any Paseo del Sol resident
can access the PdS website at www.twmc.com/paseodelsol,
and post a description of the pet, the general area it was lost
from, and a contact number under the More Community
News section.
If you’re more comfortable on Facebook, you can contact
the Paseo del Sol clubhouse staff with the same information,
and they can post it to the Paseo del Sol Community
Connection Facebook page.
The more neighbors who know your pet is missing
increases the odds it will be found quicker.
