MISSION STATEMENT
Vic A Pitre seeks to create a
culture of learning that
promotes high expectations
and mastery of academic
content through effective
instructional practices that
engage and challenge the
learner.
From the Principal’s Desk
Dear Pitre Families,
Spring is here and excitement is in the air as
we continue to have a wonderful year of
learning here at Pitre. As always, we greatly
appreciate the combined efforts of all as we
support our students in successfully meeting
the highest of standards set before them!
As we enter the month of April, our teachers
and staff continue to introduce and review
rigorous academic skills and content across all
grade levels. With roughly 3 weeks remaining
before our LEAP testing, it is imperative that
our students are present each day and eager
to actively participate in applying the
purposeful teaching and learning taking place.
As such, testing in grades 3 through 5 will
begin on Monday, April 25th and continue
through Friday, April 29th . During this testing
window, please be sure to support your
students by having them at school on time
each morning, having had a good, nutritious
breakfast, and well-rested from the night
before. We thank you in advance for your
continued support as our students excel
during our LEAP testing!
With the end of the school year quickly
approaching, I want to thank each of you for
your ongoing support of our students, our
teachers and staff, and our mission here at
Vic Pitre. This year has been, and continues to
be, a success due to the collective efforts of
all in providing opportunities for our students
to succeed and grow.
With Gratitude,
1
Mr. Taylor

CLASSROOM NEWS & NOTES
Kindergarten
Mrs. Berry, Ms. Cantelli:
We are learning new things every day! In ELA, we are practicing reading with partners and by
ourselves. Make sure you are reading with your child every day. We are blending 3, 4, and 5
letter words. Ask us to blend words such as f-r-o-g and s-t-e-p-s. Our sight word list is growing.
Make sure your child is practicing his/her sight words every night with their homework. In Math,
we are working on addition and subtraction. The end of the year is approaching quickly, and we
will soon be Kindergarten graduates! Our Graduation Ceremony will be Thursday, May 19th. Be
on the lookout for graduation information in your child’s folder!
PE
Coach Auzout, Coach Dana:
In PE, we have been exposing the kids to a wide range of sports and opportunities. This month in PE we
have experienced the sport of golf. The kids had a fun time learning the fundamentals and applying them
to the game. We have a lot more exciting sports coming up. We will learn and play T-Ball and
Volleyball. Our new equipment finally arrived from our project on DonorsChoose.org. It’s so exciting!
The LSU AgCenter is still with us giving Nutrition lessons. Please remember to be mindful of your
behavior at PE. Safety is a priority!
