AMDG STONYHURST ST MARY’S HALL NEWSLETTER Thursday 26th June 2014. ISSUE NO 192 First Communion Mass and Parent`s Weekend Mass on Sunday in St Peter’s Church at 10.00 am All Welcome. From the Headmaster Parents Weekend We are looking forward to welcoming you and praying for some good weather. Please do take the opportunity to be part of the celebration of the year at Hodder Harmonies, Ascensio Scholarum, Athletics, Matilda, the prize giving, the picnic, the barbecue, Mass and Rudiments Fair!! Please can I remind parents that they are responsible for their children during the informal events and in particular at the barbecue. End of term\Next September There will be normal classes on Monday except for the Line Winners. There will be outings on Tuesday followed by the Rudiments Ball and then tidying, Mass and Final Assembly on Wednesday. Please note that there are no after-school activities next week. I wish all families a restful summer holiday. Boarders return Tuesday 2nd September and Day Pupils on Wednesday 3rd September. I will be sending out the end of term circular with more detailed information. Thank you! It has been a privilege to serve as the Headmaster at SMH for the last 10 years. Larry Crouch [email protected] Winning Line Outing - Monday 26th June The hotly contested Line Competition reaches its crescendo during Friday's line assembly where the winning line will be announced. All pupils in the winning line (from Hodder House through to Rudiments) will win the opportunity to take part in a surprise trip out of school next Monday, 26th June. The pupils involved will be issued with parental consent letters at the end of Friday's line assembly with full details of the individual trips. There is no cost to parents but pupils who want to go on the trip must ensure that parental consent has been obtained in order to attend. Copies of the parental consent form and trip letter will also be emailed out to parents on Friday. Summer Term Reports Hodder House Record of Achievement folders will go out on the last day of term as per normal next Wednesday. Prep and Elements school reports for the summer term will go out next Friday, 4th July via email. Figures and Rudiments school reports are of course now administered and despatched by the College Studies Office and these will be emailed out to parents during the first full week of the summer holiday. This will allow the computer records to be updated before the end of the term. Any lost or damaged books will need to be replaced. It will still be possible for the children to read in the library. Mrs C McCullough [email protected] MUSIC EXAMS - Monday 30th JUNE This term, AB music exams are taking place at the Blackburn School of Music, on the last Monday of term. Mr Mann will be taking the candidates to Blackburn on Monday morning and will be leaving Stonyhurst at 8.00am. They will be back in school by lunchtime. The candidates are: James Canty, James Watmough, Dilip Gosall, Grace Keating, Olivia Yoo, Charles Cavanaugh, Tom Canty, Amy Wroblewski and Benedict Rainford. CHOIRS: PARENTS' WEEKEND MASS THIS SUNDAY Both choirs will be singing at Mass in St Peter's Church at 10.00am - Prep and Elements, and Figures and Rudiments. Please could all choristers be in the organ loft by 9.50am. Mrs D. Johnson [email protected] Outings Day Tuesday 1st July Prep Sportscool will be keeping the children entertained for the day. They will bring their 40ft inflatable for the morning followed by a dodgeball competition in the afternoon. Please have a look at their website http://www.sportscool.org/ Pupils will need to wear school PE kit and trainers and please could you send children with a water bottle which can be refilled throughout the day. Pickup for Prep is at 3.30pm. Elements Explorers On Outings Day, Elements playroom will enjoy a carousel of activities on their SBL theme of Survival Skills/Shelters from earlier in the year on the basis that the weather should be more suitable in July. They should come dressed in old clothes with their arms and legs covered and old trainers. They should also bring a waterproof coat. They will be given a ration pack for the day containing all they need for food and drink. They will need a back pack in which to carry this. Sun cream could be brought although there will be some available if necessary. Elements children should arrive at school at the normal time and the day will end at the normal time (3.30pm). Figures Figures will join Rudiments for the trip below to Blackpool Pleasure Beach and the advice and requests below apply equally to Figures pupils. Return time to school is 3:30pm and Figures day pupils may be picked up from this time onwards. Rudiments Please return the outing reply slips for the day trip to Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Rudiments pupils will need a day bag for their packed lunch, appropriate clothing, and sun cream if it is hot. No more than £10 spending money please.
