FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 5/28/15 NFL HOSTS NINTH ANNUAL “NFL BOOT CAMP: BROADCASTING” JUNE 1-4 AT NFL FILMS Top NFL Producers & Talent to Instruct Players: CBS’ James Brown to Serve as Host Joined By Fred Gaudelli (NBC), Ron Jaworski (ESPN) and Curt Menefee (FOX) “Advanced” Curriculum Offered to Five Former Boot Campers Players can earn guest hosting opportunity on NFL TV and radio partners in U.K. Twenty-four current and former NFL players, including ANTONIO CROMARTIE (Jets), IKE TAYLOR (retired) and ADALIUS THOMAS (retired) will take part in the ninth annual NFL Boot Camp: Broadcasting at NFL Films in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey from June 1-4, the NFL announced today. The four-day program, directed by the NFL Player Engagement and NFL Broadcasting departments, covers a wide range of topics with instructors from CBS, FOX, NBC, ESPN, NFL Network, Big Ten Network, SiriusXM, and WestwoodOne Radio. Sessions include hands-on work in areas such as tape study, editing, show preparation, radio production, studio preparation, production meetings, field reporting and game preparation. Each player will tape segments as a game analyst and as a field reporter and serve as a live guest host on SiriusXM NFL Radio. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to earn a guest hosting spot with one of the league’s United Kingdom broadcasting partners during the 2015 season. Last season former NFL players JE’ROD CHERRY and EVAN MOORE were selected to serve as studio analysts for an NFL regular-season Sunday on Sky Sports in the U.K. Five veteran Broadcast Boot Campers – GREG CAMARILLO (2010), MARIO HAGGAN (2007), TYOKA JACKSON (2014), MAX STARKS (2008), and GEORGE WRIGHSTER (2014) – will participate in the “Advanced Broadcasting” program featuring one-on-one coaching and feedback from faculty members as players further develop their skills in play-by-play analysis, radio broadcasting, field reporting, and other techniques. “You can turn on your television at home and see how beneficial Boot Camp: Broadcasting has been for the players who have participated in the past,” said NFL Vice President of Player Engagement CHARLES WAY. “Broadcasting is a competitive field to break into, and we’re thrilled that this program has assisted so many players with achieving their career goals.” Of the 188 players who took part in NFL Boot Camp: Broadcasting from 2007-2014, more than one-third have earned broadcasting jobs as a result of their participation in the program. Participants are selected through an application process based on NFL playing experience, essays, and demonstrated interest in media.
