“used” or pre-owned rather than brand new, but they remain among the
least likely to do so compared to consumers in the other countries
surveyed. Since 2010, they have become more likely to prefer repairing
broken things to replacing them.
They are more likely than the 18-country average to use their own bag
when shopping, but are among the least likely to buy environmentally
friendly products.
Spanish consumers’ households are more likely than average to contain
three or more TVs.

2012, and they have increased their consumption of fish and seafood
since 2009.
Of the consumers in the countries surveyed, they are among the least
frequent consumers of self-grown food. Spanish consumers eat fruits and
vegetables more frequently than many other groups, while their consumption of organic or natural food is around the 18-country average.
They are among the least frequent consumers of convenient
(prepared/packaged/processed) foods.

frequently keep their heating and cooling at a low setting to save energy,
and are more likely than average to minimize their use of fresh water.
Compared to the 18-country average, Spanish consumers are more likely
to use natural gas to heat their homes, but there has been a decrease in
their purchasing of “green” electricity since 2010.
Since 2010, there has been an increase in the proportion of Spanish
consumers who feel that owning a big house is a very important goal in
their life.

drive alone in a car or truck, but compared to the 18-country average,
they remain more likely to do so frequently. They are among the least
likely to drive with others on a regular basis.
They frequently walk or ride a bike to their usual destinations and have
become more likely to do so since 2009, and they have also become more
likely to say they choose to live close to their usual destinations for
environmental reasons.
