Women have been at the helm of the historic
preservation movement since the 1890s, beginning
with the salvation of Washington’s Mount Vernon
and the formation of the Daughters of the American
Revolution. Fairfield County also had its own historic
preservation movement, initiated by a group of seven
influential women who championed the restoration
of historic buildings. We are still learning from their
example today.

ROX is a Columbus-based organization dedicated to

Making a Difference Globally”
The challenges of growing up black and
female in apartheid South Africa have been
the foundation of Nontombi Naomi Tutu’s
life as an activist for human rights. Those
experiences taught her that our whole human
family loses when we accept situations
of oppression, and how the teaching and
preaching of hate and division injure us all.
In her speeches, Tutu blends this passion
for human dignity with humor and personal
stories. Tutu is the third child of Archbishop
Desmond Tutu and Nomalizo Leah Tutu.

the arts. Choreographer Tonya Kraner will share her
experiences as a dance instructor, director, coach, and
choreographer.

Body, Spirit

Lori Guth Moffett, Director, Urban Zen Integrative Therapy Program
