WELCOME
April heralds our fourth BOOKS BY THE BEACH festival.
We’re delighted to bring a cornucopia of shining talent to
Scarborough.
This year we’re introducing top medical experts and scientists to
share their knowledge. We’ve got gutsy ‘girl power’ with sports
champions to inspire. Top novelists, crime and thriller writers rub
shoulders with historians, musicians, poets and biographers.
We’ve all things Victorian and a twist on Jane Austen.
Debtors linger in the prison and Monet blossoms at the
Art gallery.
Poignancy in politics and war, and hot news at the press panel.
There’s stargazing and tales from under the hammer at
Christies, plus celebrity girls putting pens to paper.
Food and drink events are ever popular and we’re increasing
our range of venues. We’re delighted to announce a new
partnership with The Stephen Joseph Theatre, who are hosting
events in The Round and their own Bistro.
We’ve also a unique tea party at Wykeham Abbey Old Kitchen.
Beer tasting and themed events are complemented by beautiful
local restaurant catering.
A HUGE THANK YOU to all our wonderful authors, sponsors,
partners, volunteers, and finally you the audience for your
enduring support and enthusiasm. Let’s keep culture on the
coast! Have fun at the festival and help us spread the word!
