Come explore the natural world around you in a nature walk through the beautiful Grinnell College campus!
Collect pinecones, stack rocks, pick flowers, and make leaf rubbings to get closer to Mother Earth. You can
turn nature into your very own piece of art!
Thunder n' Lightnin'... Ain't So Frightenin'!: Thunderstorms and Tornadoes
BOOM! What's that sound? Thunder n' Lightning! Don't be scared — come learn where lightning comes from
and why you're parents say it's raining cats and dogs when no pets are out there! Explore the science behind
extreme weather and create your own mini tornado in a jar!
Kitchen Chemistry: Do it Yourself Science!
Do you like cool science experiments? Our class will teach you how to make to make elephant toothpaste, lava
lamps, and flubber, all from materials you can find in your own kitchen!
Let’s Eat: How to Build a Balanced Meal
Welcome to our new buffet with all sorts of food. What will you choose to eat? We will teach you how to build
a balanced meal!
Paint With All the Colors of the Rain
You may not be able to paint with all the colors of the wind, but did you know you can paint with all colors of
the rain? In this workshop we will learn about the water cycle and why it rains while painting and creating
colorful rain clouds.

Sports and Culture: Cricket 101
Ever wondered what sports other countries play? What’s the difference between football and soccer? Baseball
and Cricket? Join us as we learn about sport culture around the world, and even try our luck at cricket!
Race Through Space!
In this space exploration class, we will learn about the solar system, including all of the planets, the sun, and
the moon! We will also create a model of the solar system, where each learner gets to create a planet and
take it home. Other fun activities will include running from planet to planet and learning about the tides and
other ways that the sun and moon affect our home--Earth!
Everyday Engineers
Do you like Legos? Or even puzzles? If so, this is the class for you! In this class, you will be able to learn how to
build different contraptions from everyday objects, like straws, CDs, and glue.
The Story of Abu and You!
Ever wonder how humans came to be? Why do we look like our parents? Learn about the basics of evolution,
natural selection, and the human genome in this fun introductory course!
Let’s Take A Trip: Exploring China and France
Have you ever thought about traveling to a foreign country? In this course, we will show you what life is like in
China and France! Get a glimpse of what your home and school life would be like while living in these
countries. We’ll even learn some basic phrases in Mandarin and French!
Rhythm and Beatbox
In this class, we will be learning the basics of rhythm and beatboxing. Together, we will explore standard
sounds of beatboxing and master them so that we can create a piece of music to share with our friends and
family!
Ciphers and Cryptography: The Language of Spies
What is morse code? How do spies transfer top secret information securely? Codes and code-breaking have
been an important part of nearly every civilization. Learn the language of spies and create your own cipher to
bring home and show off to your friends and family!

What is Your Story?: Intro to Creative Writing
This class will explore the power of asking the right questions – expanding our imagination, and learning to
shape the world through words. Join us as we explore how writing can shape what the world looks like now,
how it looked before us, and how it might look in the future.
Finding Diversity
Up for a challenge to step out of your shoes? We will be playing fun games to learn what life may be like for
people of different backgrounds and/or abilities. Time to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes!
Bright Ideas: Watts up with Electricity and Circuits?
What happens when you turn on a light? Why does your hair stand up when you go down a slide? Build your
own circuit and find out how electrifying physics can be!
Origami: The Art of Paper
Wondering what can you make out of just one piece of paper? Join us in this origami workshop! You will learn
to create beautiful 3D objects from pieces of 2D paper. You will have a chance to create your own toys or
decorations for your room with your hands. It is very challenging as well as rewarding to refine the motor skills
through mistakes and constant reflections. We look forward to seeing you there and having a good time with
