Carissa Garpstas (formally Dommel) attended the
Receptive Services Association of America (RSAA)
trade show where she met with over 25
International Receptive Tour Operators. Next she
is heading to the North American Journeys West
(NAJ West) trade show and has already secured
approximately 15 appointments.
Meetings & Conventions
The National Chimney Sweep Guild Annual
Convention and Trade Show is being held in
Lancaster now through February 20. There are 500
people in attendance from all over the United
States.
Sports
Lancaster is thankful to have hosted once again
the annual MLK Girls Volleyball Tournament. This
year it reached a record 497 registered teams,
with 5,211 room nights.
Next month, we anticipate the number of teams
registering for the Irish Rumble Volleyball
Tournament to grow by 46%.
Telling our story through
Public Relations
Our communications staff constantly partners with
our members to garner free publicity for
Lancaster tourism in media outlets around the
region, the country, and the globe.
As a result of these collaborative PR efforts,
Discover Lancaster and its members obtained
coverage in 32 stories during the month of
January, reaching nearly 9 million people and
worth $41,000 in ad value. (The "ad value" of a
story is the amount it would cost to run an
advertisement of equal size in the same media
outlet.)
Also in January, we interacted with 17 separate
media outlets – 10 via pro-active pitch and 7 via
re-active response.
