Deliverable 2.2
Business Methodology Definition
SSIX
Executive Summary
This document defines the SSIX business methodology by looking at the primary business processes
required to apply social sentiment analysis for the three case studies driven by Peracton, 3rdPLACE
and Lionbridge.
Firstly, in Section Two of the document the required personalisation for each case study is described.
Also the distinction is made between the generic type of personalization (applicable to all case studies)
and unique type of personalisation specific for each case study.
Secondly, this document clearly defines the SSIX templates as a means to personalize SSIX software in
a relatively straightforward manner without the need for altering the source code at any time. In this
respect, the main SSIX process flow is presented with the ‘entry-points’ of the SSIX template that allows
behaviours to be modified accordingly with the case-studies’ needs.
Thirdly and finally, conclusions are drawn and recommendations for implementation are provided.
* This is the public shortened version of deliverable D2.2. The rest of the content was

Business Methodology Definition
SSIX
Introduction
This Deliverable describes the business methodology and business steps required by each partner for
implementing and adopting the software developed by the SSIX consortium. While the software
developed is intended to be as generic as possible, each industrial partner has very specific and unique
commercial goals to pursue while using social sentiment analysis. Therefore, each partner has
identified elements of their business process that are specific to their business needs which requires
personalisation of SSIX platform.
One important aspect of the Generic vs. Custom approach is represented by the ‘SSIX Templates’ which
are actual general-purpose frameworks that can be personalised and then modified in a unique way,
customising the functionality and process flow of the SSIX software.
The first iteration of the sentiment metrics (X-Scores) are described; these sentiment metrics enable
each use case partner to uniquely understand the current sentiment behavior of a particular topic they
are interested in. The ability to personalise the data sources and NLP parameters to generate these XScores metrics enables the end user to analyse multiple custom data streams. A user could execute a
rolling sentiment volatility X-Score which provides a gauge of the significance of the sentiment change
along with a rolling moving average X-Score to show the trend of sentiment, these metrics allow users
to monitor a topic to understand the change in sentiment dynamics.
The Social Data Harvesting and Filtering is a crucial part of the SSIX platform, the insights that the XScores provide can only be as good as the data quality used to create them. For this reason, the
filtering process to remove spam and irrelevant messages is critical to the platform. The ability to
seamlessly personalise these different platform components is provided via the SSIX Templates, an
effortless procedure to personalise and customise specific SSIX platform behaviours without any effort
requirement from an implementation level.

Conclusions
This deliverable describes the business methodology and business steps required from each of the
partners to implement and use the software developed by the SSIX consortium. The primary aim of the
consortium is to develop a final solution that is flexible enough, with the possibility of each industrial
partner adding at a later date any custom X-Score they may need according to their specific and unique
commercial goals. Also, the platform will have a set of customizable features that will increase the
flexibility and widen its possible usage.
The SSIX platform will be personalised following the requirements of each case study chosen, as
documented in Section Two of this deliverable. The generic personalization required for all case
studies as identified by the project partners consist of:
●
sentiment metrics (X-Scores),
●
social data harvesting,
●
filtering and aggregation of data sources,
●
spam filter,
●
time-frame for sentiment data extraction,
●
filter terms and
●
NLP engine training.
In addition, individual types of personalisation required by each case study have also been identified,
such as social data sources required, user interface language, target language and notifications.
The SSIX template requirements are documented in Section Three, where the objective is to provide
SSIX end users (Peracton, 3rdPLACE, Lionbridge) an easy way to personalise and customise specific
SSIX platform behaviours without any effort requirement from an implementation level. Several
system parameters, such as social networks, time frame filter, keyword filter, spam filter, NLP engine,
classification model, named entities, etc., are thoroughly documented within this section.
