Information regarding fees
It is the Gothenburg city council who make decisions regarding the fees for children who have a place in government run
preschools and these are the rules that IPS also follows.
Payment
Fees are charged 11 months of the year with July payment free. Vacation, bank holidays (red days) or other types of
leave does not affect the fee. The fee is based on the household’s total taxable gross (before tax) income per month, the
child’s age and how many children in the family have a place in preschool.
You pay the fee for all children on one invoice. The invoice for the month we are in, will be sent to you by the 14 th of
each month with the due date of the 28th of the month or if the 28th is a weekend, the closest working day to the 28th. It

Joint Custody
In cases where the child lives alternately between the parents/guardians and both are using the place in Preschool, then
both parents/guardians are responsible for the fee.
The fee is calculated based on each parent/ guardian’s household’s income. Both parents/guardian’s pay half of the fee
from their household income. The two fees cannot go over the maximum fee.
In cases where the child lives alternately with both parent/guardians and only one of them is using the place at the
Preschool, then half of the fee should be paid only by the parent/guardian who is using the place.
Cohabitant
People who are registered at the same address count as a household. The household income is the base for the fee even
if the child is not common to both cohabitants.
If a family has more than one child.
If you have two or three children with a place in Preschool you pay the whole fee for the youngest child. For child two
and three in the family you pay a siblings fee. From the fourth child you will not be charged a fee.
Changes in income or family circumstances
Changes in income or family circumstances that affect the fee must be reported as soon as they are known.
If you have your own business and cannot estimate your monthly income then you should pay the highest fee. The fee
will then be adjusted when you provide your approved self-declaration for the year.
If you do not leave an income form you will be charged maximum fee.
Closing of the Preschool
With unplanned closing for a full day when no other place can be offered no fee should be charged. With closing for part
of the day only half fee will be charged. Planned closing for staff study days, up to four days in a school year, do not
affect the fee.
Fee waiver during long term illness
Fees are not affected by the child’s short term illness. With longer illness periods (continuous absence) a fee waiver will
be made from the 22nd day of absence. A doctor’s certificate must be provided.
Resigning your child’s place
You must resign your place in writing one month before the date that your child will leave. During that month you will
be charged a fee regardless of whether you use the place or not. The date for the resignation will be from the date that
your written resignation is received. You will receive a confirmation of your resignation.
