headmaster Simon Elliott
visiting Winchester later
this year.
Mr Elliott hopes the two
schools can learn from each
other. He said: “Of course it
is a wonderful opportunity
for us to learn from the top

independent
school in the country.

Star of the Week
Tyreese Remy-Henderson
Tyreese is a student at
Eastlea Community School,
Canning Town. He joined
Eastlea’s Youth Dance
Company in Year 7 having
never previously danced
before. Through hard work
and commitment Tyreese
went on to represent
the school in local
dance shows and
competitions
winning Eastlea’s
Dancer of
the Year in
2012/2013.
In 2012,
Tyreese
successfully
auditioned
for the awardwinning, critically
acclaimed ZooNation
Dance Company. He
has shown an enormous
amount of commitment
and determination in his
dance training all the time
juggling school work with
regular performances in
central London (Royal Albert
Hall, Sadlers Wells and The
Place).
Tyreese spent the summer
performing every night at
the South Bank Centre in
ZooNation’s production
Groove on Down the Road,
which was such a success
they have been invited back
to perform for six weeks this
summer. The show received
outstanding reviews: ‘‘One
of the UK’s HOTTEST
dance companies…’’
(The Independent),
‘‘Highly skilled and
hugely enjoyable’’
(The Telegraph).
Tyreese is
also a great
role model to
other students.
Assistant
principal Nazanin
Shirani said:
“Tyreese goes
the extra mile to
share his knowledge
and passion of dance with
others and encourages
other students to follow their
dreams and never give up.
He is an excellent example
of what can be achieved if
you put in the hard work;
we are extremely proud of
him and look forward to
watching his dance career
blossom.”
Interesting Fact
Lions are the second largest
big cat species in the world
behind tigers. The average
male lion weighs around
180kg (400lb) while the
average female lion weighs
around 130kg (290lb). Lions
can reach speeds of up to
81kph (50mph) but only in
short bursts.
Joke of the week
Q: How many feet are there
in a field with 300 sheep,
three dogs, two horses and a
farmer?
A: Two, because all the rest
are hooves and paws.

“This will be a wonderful
opportunity for them.”
He added: “The pursuit of
academically excellence is
something that Forest Gate
shares with Winchester.
“I feel sure that Dr Hodgins will be impressed at
the efforts that our chil-
dren make to overcome the
challenges that living in an
inner city area brings.
“I believe our shared experiences will enhance both
institutions.”
Irfan, the son of an Indian
immigrant factory worker,
said: “It is fantastic that
Forest Gate has developed
a relationship with Win-
chester. It is essential that
children from deprived environments are given opportunities like the one I have

this visit will help to inspire
