SAT Revival
Service sire of commercial heifers.
We will have a group of 30 commercial Angus heifers consigned to
the December 30, 2014 sale at Stockmen’s Livestock in Dickinson, ND.
These heifers are all home raised and are all confirmed AI bred for a
due date of March 1, 2015 to SAT Revival, the Regis son we raised
that now resides at Select Sires. The heifers will sell in two groups,
16 head that will be having bull calves and 14 head that will be having
heifer calves. Please call for more details.

you to look through this preview of our February 13, 2015 sale offering. We are
extremely excited about this year’s offering and would like to offer an invitation for
you to stop by before sale time to evaluate our bulls, their dams, and their heifer
mates.
At Talkington Angus Ranch we raise bulls for the commercial cattleman. Our
registered herd is managed exactly like our commercial herd. Our cows have to
survive strictly on forage like many of yours, and our bulls are developed to last. We
feel that a herd bull should not be developed like a steer on a finishing ration so our
bulls are developed in a pasture all fall and winter. They must travel and get exercise
so they are ready to go to work for you come breeding season.
We believe in raising balanced cattle, no extremes. Creating great females is
definitely our top priority, but we feel the strength of the Angus breed is that you can
have it all. We strive to breed cattle that are easy fleshing, good uddered, structurally
sound, moderate framed, docile, and fertile. Along with that, they need to produce
pounds of high quality beef.
As we move forward, we would value the opportunity to be your genetic supplier. We
stand behind our bulls and if there are any issues we will make it right. Again we ask

and the Angus breed is our passion.

Regis has developed into a proven calving ease sire that
delivers quality replacement females and stout made, thick
ended bulls. Regis consistently sires functional cattle and
is backed by the legendary Donna cow family. He provides
easy keeping, docile progeny with excellent structure and
moderate stature. We will be offering 16 Regis sons.
Capitalist is a rare calving ease bull that sires more body
width, mass, and muscle expression than expected from
his cowmaker pedigree. Capitalist progeny excel for scrotal
circumference and Rib Eye Area. These Capitalist sons
will sire deep sided, big bodied cattle that will power up
a calf crop and make females you will want to keep as
replacements. Selling 5 powerful Capitalist sons.
2013 Born Steers
The 2013 born steers marked the fourth year
that our steers have been fed at Beller Feedlot at
Lindsey, Nebraska. The steers were sent to Greater
Omaha Packing and due to our business relationship
with Samson LLC., we were again able to obtain
carcass data on these steers. This group of steers,
the herdmates to the bulls that we sold last year,
achieved 100% Choice and higher. Included in this
was a CAB acceptance rate of 57%, and 21% Prime, for a total of 78% premium carcasses. How does
this compare to the industry average you may ask? Currently, the percentage of carcasses grading
Choice and higher hovers around 70%, with only about 4% grading Prime. The current CAB acceptance
rate for Angus-type cattle is currently at a record high of 25.6%, which is still less than half of what our
calves have been consistently achieving since we started gathering data. The reason we feel this is so
important is the fact that demand for Certified Angus Beef and high quality beef in general continues
to grow. We want our customers to be able to capitalize on available premiums, which you can do with
confidence with our genetics without giving up functionality, fertility, fleshing ability, and maternal ability.
