undreds of IIPP alumni are working in government, business, nonprofit organizations, and international service (including the U.S. Foreign
Service) throughout the world. They retain a strong identification with
UNCFSP and the IIPP Fellowship Program, and they maintain a commitment
to working with and supporting one another. Fellows enjoy alumni support
and advice, and new IIPP graduates benefit from the assistance of fellow
alumni as they begin their careers.
IIPP encourages alumni to participate in many aspects of the IIPP program.
For example, alumni help to recruit and serve on the IIPP Selection
Committee that admits new IIPP Fellows. Alumni also provide guidance to
current students as IIPP advisors. Additionally, many IIPP alumni contribute
their time, effort, and financial support to guide new IIPP graduates into the
international workforce.

capacity-building initiatives are designed to work in concert with
other IIPP program components to support the production of experts in Less
Commonly Taught Languages (LCTLs) and area studies at minority serving institutions
(MSIs). The inclusion of MSI faculty in IIPP institutes and activities allows institutions
to access leading-edge curricula, learn innovative strategies for engaging students
in the classroom, expand professional networks, identify funding opportunities,
and participate in other development opportunities. With training and professional
development opportunities, online resources, grants, institutional mentorship, and
curriculum development assistance, the goal of IIPP capacity-building initiatives is
to enhance the existing ability of UNCFSP to provide MSIs with the information,
assistance, and financial support they need.
