Year 10 District Cup Final Result District Cup Final The Weekly Word From Mr Hayden, PE teacher: No. 23 Friday 24 March 2017 “Unfortunately the District Cup Final did not go to plan in a number of ways. The final was rearranged twice due to the weather at the beginning of the week and the tie ended up being played on Wykham field. The Year 10 boys gave it their all but in the end suffered an unfortunate 1-0 loss to NOA. The team has done really well this year in both the County Cup and District Cup, I would like to give them a massive pat on the back. Red Nose Day Just a regular staff meeting at Banbury Academy. Please congratulate the Year 10 boys for all their hard work this year: Harley, Freddie, Lewis, Finlay, Tom, James, Ollie, Asad, Umair, Dawid, Christian and Nathan.” Profile Red Nose Photo Booth Save the date for the Family Fun day on the 10th June. Oxford Mock Trial Competition Start your future now! Heading Another success for Banbury Academy as Zelmira’s 'law squad' travelled to Oxford court to compete in a mock trial competition. The students did incredibly well and really did themselves proud. Especially Tehya who delivered an incredible closing statement for the defence team, and Oscar who won an award for being the best defendant. Vol.1 no 2 Friday 30 September 2016 Congratulations to the students and Zelmira for all of their hard work. Banbury Area Primary Schools Netball Festival Profile Banbury Academy hosted the Banbury Area Primary Schools Netball Festival on Thursday. It was a very popular event with 18 teams entering from 11 local schools. It was highly competitive with teams battling it out for a place at the partnership finals. The 13 leaders from Year 9 and 10 did a fantastic job of umpiring, gaining confidence as the festival went. The eventual winners were St. Joseph’s with The Grange coming 2 nd and Dashwood 3rd. Thanks and well done to the leaders: Abbie, Reisha, Jasmine, Molly, Hannah, Sophie, Hollie, Lucy, Aimee, Molly, Tia and Erin. Magistrates Court Visit Report Calling all Chocoholics Heading Report by Tehya Vol.1 no 2 Friday 30 September 2016 “On Thursday 16th March, Mrs Grover who prepared us for our Mock Trial Competition, took us [Tehya, Lucy, Joy, Holly, Leah, Kimberley, Aaron, Cole and Oscar] on a trip to Banbury Magistrates Court to watch some real trials to help us with our competition. We watched 2 trials, one for a speeding offence and one for a case of assault on a police officer and a member of staff from Horton Hospital. They were both really interesting to hear about, and it really benefited us, as we were able to really understand what to do in our roles for the competition. We were also given an opportunity to use one of the court room to practise, which was fun too.” Lottery Year 11 Easter School 10 - 13 April Last Saturday’s Lottery winner for Banbury Academy Lottery was a student’s mother, Amanda Walden.
