In just six seasons at Tulane, head coach Lisa Stockton has turned the Green Wave into one of the nation’s top college basketball programs. Under her direction, Tulane has won two Conference USA championships, three Conference USA Tournament titles and has made six straight trips to the NCAA Tournament. She has compiled a 138-42 record (76.7 winning percentage) in her six seasons in New Orleans, and has a 201-69 record (74.4%) in nine seasons as a head coach. Stockton has led the Green Wave to at least 19 wins each season and has posted five straight 20-win campaigns. To better appreciate Stockton’s impact on the Tulane women’s basketball program, simply look at the Green Wave’s record before and after. In the 19 years before Stockton’s arrival in New Orleans, Tulane experienced just seven winning seasons and had participated just once in post-season play. Since taking over the Green Wave program before the 1994-95 season, Tulane has won an average of 22 games-per-season, made six straight trips to the Big Dance, and has won five conference championships. Under Stockton’s guidance, Tulane has produced Green Wave players that have earned AllAmerica honors, been named to the All-Conference USA team and the C-USA All-Tournament team, won seven different C-USA Player of the Year awards and have three times been named as the C-USA Tournament’s Most Valuable Player. However, Stockton’s troops have also fared as well in the classroom as on the hardwood, as the Green Wave has maintained a 100% graduation rate during Stockton’s five years. Assistant Coach Katie Meier is in her sixth season as a member of the Tulane coaching staff. She specializes in player development, scouting, recruiting and fund-raising for Green Wave Basketball. Before arriving in New Orleans, Meier played professionally in Belgium with the BBC MiniFlat/Demulle club team from 1990-93, leading the squad to three First Division titles and one Belgian Cup championship. She also coached the BBC Mini-flat/Waregem club team during her stay in Belgium, guiding the team to three regular-season titles and to the Belgian Cup championship game. A 1989 cum laude graduate of Duke, Meier was an All-ACC standout for the Blue Devils. She was named the ACC’s Rookie of the Year in 1986 and was twice named ACC Player of the Week her senior season. Meier has also served as an assistant coach at UNC Asheville and for the Chicago Hustle in the AAU ranks. Assistant Coach Kellie Kennedy has been a member of the Green Wave coaching staff for four years. Her primary responsibilities are recruiting, scouting, promotions and serving as the team’s academic advisor. She was a four-year letterwinner at the University of North Carolina. A recipient of the UNC Scholar-Athlete Award, Kennedy was also a member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll. A proven coach in her own right, Kennedy was the head coach at Hollins College from 1993-95, while also serving as the assistant coach at both UNC Wilmington and Richmond before arriving at Tulane. During her tenure at Hollins, Kennedy also served as the school’s head soccer coach. Assistant Rodnelle Hadley is in her first season as a coach with Tulane, but is no stranger to the Green Wave women’s basketball team. Hadley was a four-year letterwinner for the Green Wave from 1994-98, dishing out a teamhigh 86 assists during her senior season. During her four seasons, Tulane compiled an impressive 88-32 record (.733) and earned four consecutive berths in the NCAA Tournament. Hadley was the Wave’s starting point guard when Tulane won its first-ever Conference USA championship. Hadley also brings a wealth of coaching experience to the Green Wave. She has spent the last three seasons coaching the Kenner Angels in the New Orleans AAU ranks.
