Dear Tri Foxes,
It is with deep sorrow that we inform the Fox Cities Triathlon Club that one of our most beloved and
active Tri Foxes, Katy Sirovatka, succumbed to her disease on Friday March 16th. Katy was
surrounded by her family and loved ones when she quietly passed away.
We will always remember Katy's strength and her tireless determination to fight as long as she
could. Katy finished Ironman Wisconsin 6 months ago and shortly thereafter
received the bad news that her melanoma had returned, this time with
vengeance.
Strong, loyal, and capable ...words we can use to describe
Katy and hopefully emulate as we lead our lives. Katy even continued in
her role of leading our annual TRI 101...it wasn't until just before the class
last month that Katy was forced to turn over her leadership because she
was just too sick.
!
Katy met her husband, Jon, at one of our Tuesday night bikerides...Fuzzy
Fox actually attended their wedding and went along on the honeymoon.
Katy approached her life as wife, step-mom, PHD scientist, triathlete,
and
friend with dignity, organization, and
leadership.
Please keep Jon and his sons in your
prayers...please remember Katy when you
are lucky enough to be able to ride your
bike, swim in a lake, and run through the
cool morning air...Katy will always be
remembered as our TOP FOX. Rest in
Peace, our dear dear and beloved Katy.
Visitation for Katy will be at the Wichman
Funeral home from 4-8pm on Tuesday
March 20th..it is at 537 N. Superior Street in
Appleton. Funeral services will be held at
the First Congregational Church at 724
South River Street in Appleton on
Wednesday March 21st...visitation before the funeral starts at 10:15am-10:45am and services start
at 11am...All are welcome.

[email protected].
And...Katy always laughed as we told the following story...when she first started coming to the
Tuesday night rides, she refused to wear any type of Tri Fox gear..Katy wore very plain bike
clothes......she finally caved in to the constant nagging by the
Tuesday night peloton and bought a pair of FOX SOX... her closets
were never empty after that!!...Katy finally admitted with a sheepish
grin that she really liked wearing the "colors" and became one of the
most visible Tri Foxes out there....to know her was to love her.
In honor of Katy and Jon's love and devotion to our club, there is NO
doubt that Katy would want her fellow TRI FOXES to wear our colors
to her visitation and funeral. She will be smiling!
Rest in Peace Katy, you fought as long as you could and showed us
all how adversity can be handled with dignity and grace. We will miss
you.
