High School Newsletter End of Term 4 2014

4 December 2014
Dear Parents and Guardians
The end of the academic year is upon us and it is always a wonderful time to reflect on
the year that has passed.
We have had much to celebrate this year, especially with regard to our students
academically, culturally and on the sporting front. None of this would have been
achieved without the unconditional support of you, our parents, and the hard work of
our teaching staff. We see the holistic education of a child as a 3 way partnership
with the child being at the centre of such a relationship.
Next year, we will focus strongly on adopting a consistent approach to discipline e.g.
uniform, hair and appropriate behaviour as a Georgian. This week our staff will be
involved in discussions on our Assessment Program, critically analysing and reflecting
on shared good practice in order to offer an even more rich educational experience.
We are committed to a quality education which embraces teenagers as individuals, yet
has firm boundaries in place to provide an emotionally safe place for teenagers to
thrive. The pastoral care provided by our staff is superb. I wish to share with you an
excerpt from a hugely affirming email which I received from a parent recently: “I just
wanted to thank you most sincerely for …………. integration into the school this
year and for looking out for…… the way you do. St George’s has exceeded all
expectations in terms of the staff and children – the ethos and way of being is
unlike anything we have come across. Most generous, unique and kind in spirit.
What a blessing to have found you all. We are so very thankful.”
On this wonderfully affirming note, on behalf of the High School Team, I would like to
wish all our Christian families who celebrate the Birth of Christ, a very blessed
Christmas and to our Jewish Families - Happy Hanukah. May our Christian and
Jewish Georgians be guided by divine blessings and be showered with Peace, Joy and
Love during this Holy time.
To all our Georgian families, we send you every good wish for 2015 and a safe and
happy holiday.
Warm regards
Michelle Sylvester
