Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Teen Maze?
The Teen Maze is a life-sized, interactive “game board” through which youth will advance by
“chance” to various stations. During the Maze, youth will not have a “choice” about the
decisions they make regarding sexual involvement, drug/alcohol use, texting and driving, and
other behaviors. Instead, they will pull scripts or spin a wheel to learn the “good or bad
news”. Youth who pull scripts that avoid risky behavior will be “rewarded”, while others will
learn the potential consequences of poor decisions. Since paths are randomly assigned, no
two participants will have the same encounter (much like in real life).
Is there a cost to attend the Teen Maze?
No. Participation in the Teen Maze is free.
Is there an age requirement?
Yes. Youth must be between 12 and 19 years old.
Where should youth be dropped off and picked up?
Youth should be dropped off and picked up at the front entrance of Drew High School,
located at 6237 Garden Walk Blvd., Riverdale, GA 30274.
How long will it take to go through the Maze?
It will take approximately 1-2 hours for each youth to complete the Maze. Parents and youth
should coordinate a pick up time so that youth are not left waiting once they have completed
the Maze and eaten lunch.
Will lunch be provided?
Yes. Lunch will be provided for all registered youth after they have completed their Maze
experience.
Can youth go through the Maze more than once?
No. Youth may go through the Maze only once.
Can parents/adults go through the Maze?
No. The Maze is designed for youth to experience on their own, however, escorted tours of
the Maze from the balcony area will be available for parents. There will also be a Parent
Resource Area for those who would like to wait for their youth to complete the Maze.
Can youth go through the Maze with their friends?
No. Youth will begin their Maze experience in randomly selected groups. Although they may
begin their journey with their friends, the scripts they select will more than likely send them
on different paths.
What is the goal of the Teen Maze?
The goal of the Teen Maze is to expose youth to engaging and thought-provoking situations
in order to increase their chances of success by reducing (if not eliminating) certain risky
behaviors.
