How many televisions did your authority have to purchase? 3. How were the old televisions disposed of? 4. What is the standard television now used in your hospitals, clinics and other NHS buildings? How much does it cost and what is the specification inclusive of flat screen/width and 3D functions? 5. Are there any circumstance where the specification of the television varies. For example are bigger televisions required for staff rooms or individual Executive offices? 6. In relation to question 5) if the answer is yes, can you please specify the make, model and specifications and cost of the most expensive television set.” I can now respond as follows: 1. “How much did your health board spend upgrading and replacing television sets during the digital switchover? In preparation from year 2008 to actual digital switchover in September 2010, NHS Grampian spent a total of £93,190. This included site surveys; aerial upgrading; internal work and purchasing of analogue/digital converters. 2. How many televisions did your authority have to purchase? NHS Grampian did not purchase any televisions in preparation for the digital switchover. 3. How were the old televisions disposed of? The old televisions were donated to a charitable organisation. With advance notice under WEEE Regulations, NHS Grampian’s contracted supplier will uplift an old TV for disposal when delivering a new unit. 4. What is the standard television now used in your hospitals, clinics and other NHS buildings? How much does it cost and what is the specification inclusive of flat screen/width and 3D functions? NHS Grampian has no standard as such. All TVs are LCD or Plasma Sizes range from 19", 26",32",40",42". Prices range from £138 for a 19” to £420 for a 42”. Some of the smaller screens have the additional option of a combi dvd player. We do not have any record of staff procuring TVs with 3D functions. 5. Are there any circumstance where the specification of the television varies. For example are bigger televisions required for staff rooms or individual Executive offices? The product range listed on the response to question 4 covers the vast majority of requests. Screen size can depend on room size but is not the only factor. Any additional requests outwith product ranges are not encouraged. 6. In relation to question 5) if the answer is yes, can you please specify the make, model and specifications and cost of the most expensive television set.” Covered in question 4.
