ACHIEVER OF THE MONTH Ava is our achiever this month for winning a class at the Phaeton Park show and winning 3 classes at Interschools. 4 wins in one month; two for jumping, one for equitation and another for showing - excellent achievement Ava! PARENT OF THE MONTH Dustine’s moments inspired us to do something different this month we are awarding her Mother of the Month for March! HAPPY EASTER! BLONDES OF THE MONTH Well, where does one start? March at the yard has not been without a dull moment! Some are real blonde moments and others only minor ones but we thought we’d mention them all this month :) Dustine, leads the way with her two moments. Firstly, she entered her very normal daughter into the Special Needs classes at Inter-schools (luckily this was discovered before the event and corrected in time!). Secondly, Natalie cancelled her lessons one Thursday as she had to attend a wedding. Natalie sent Dustine a message to remind her that Gaby would not be having a lesson with Natalie but Samantha would still have her lesson with Mariska. So Dustine arranged for her driver to fetch Samantha from school and drop her off at stables. Then it rained and rained. Samantha couldn’t have her lesson anyway so waited at stables in the pouring rain to be picked up. Almost 3 hours later, shortly after 5pm, Vee sees Samantha was still loitering around stables and phoned Dustine. She had completely forgotten her daughter needed to be picked up! Jade & Brad had a joint moment. Early one Saturday morning, Natalie comes out with her box of tea, coffee & treats to setup and sees Jade hanging around Stormtracker’s stable. A short while later, Natalie sees Jade still there, doing nothing. So she asked Jade if she’d asked the groom to tack up for her, had he forgotten? So Jade had to explain that Brad had earlier that week taken the tack home for a good cleaning and oiling. Brad brought back the saddle before Jade’s Saturday lesson but left the bridle at home. Jade was waiting for Brad to get out of bed and bring the bridle so she could ride. And after all of this, neither of them had actually cleaned their tack! Then Jade had another moment (Brad not involved this time). Mariska decided to join Jade’s lesson, bareback for a bit of fun. Mariska was soon flying over 1.20m on Cisco without a saddle and Jade said “Wow! Can’t believe you are doing all that without stirrups!” Natalie and Mariska had to point out that Mariska wasn’t riding without stirrups, she was riding without a saddle. Next on the list is Hui. At Inter-schools he was delighted to hear the announcement that Jay had placed 2nd in Equitation. He started jumping up and down, clapping his hands. He ran straight over to Jay’s pony, Toby. Hui started patting him, even congratulating him in Chinese. Then he realised, it wasn’t Toby! It was some other child’s appaloosa from another yard. So, Phaeton Parkers continue to attract strange looks from grooms from other yards, two months in a row now... Sandra had two moments this month. For some reason she packed her handbag away into the tack box outside Sahara’s stable. She rides and goes home. The next morning, Lucky comes up to Vee with Sandra’s handbag in hand. He had just found it in the box. Vee phoned Sandra to tell her and only then did Sandra realised her bag was gone! For her second moment, Sandra had arranged with Natalie to change Sahara’s schooling days so she could ride on Tuesdays. Sandra arrives at the yard the next Tuesday in her normal, casual clothes. No riding gear. When Natalie queried this, Sandra remembered she was meant to be riding! Claudia was convinced her horse was sick, so she took his temperature. She went straight to Vee and said her horse’s temperature was 34,2. She was adamant the reading was correct. Thinking this was a bit odd, Vee phoned the vet who agreed it was impossible, the horse should be almost dead at that temperatur. So Vee went to take the temperature herself. It was a perfect 37,5. Lastly, Maxine had a party for which her dad, Andrew, had organised pony rides for with Vee. Muzi took the pony through to the party and Andrew brought the tack along. Next thing, Vee saw Dominique hunting around for her bridle, couldn’t find it anywhere. Andrew had taken the wrong bridle. ESTABLISHED 1970 PHAETON PARK | PROP V.
