„„ Sunset concerts begin at 5pm and end at
approximately 7pm. Each concert includes an
interval of around fifteen to twenty minutes.
„„ You are welcome to bring a picnic, blanket and
low chairs to sit on.
„„ A sign language interpreter from Auslan will be
on stage to assist the hearing impaired for the
Christmas concert (22 December) and
Band of Brothers (2 February).
„„ Please check the city’s website
www.subiaco.wa.gov.au for late notice changes.
„„ For information on accessible facilities at the city’s
parks, contact the city on 9237 9222 during
business hours.
„„ Limited parking is available at each of the concert
locations. The city encourages the use of public

„„ While the city takes all reasonable care in the conduct
of the sunset@subi concerts and the provision of safe

20s to 50s swing
Celebrate the spirit of Christmas with festive tunes lead by
singer-pianist Michael Battersby and carols with the A Cappella
Praise Choir. There will be a special visit by Santa for all the
boys and girls.
The Pioneers’ music is a mix of traditional Australian
bush and country folk songs. Featuring the distinctive
vocal harmonies of David and Liz Rivett, every Pioneers
performance is unique, inspirational and very Australian.
The Darling Buds of May are an exciting swing sextet whose
extensive repertoire covers many musical genres, from 1920s
dixieland jazz through to 1950s swing and blues. The punchy
horns and rhythm section, along with the sultry tones of
Jessie Gordon, will have you dancing in the park.

Soak up the sounds of New Orleans and tap your toes to the
swingin’ jazz hits of yesteryear. Formed in 1987, this fun and
talented group of musicians play tunes made famous by the
jazz greats, including Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Jellyroll
Morton, Scott Joplin and George Gershwin.
Ulla Shay is an award-winning Indigenous Australian singersongwriter who released her first single at just fourteen
years of age. A graduate of Abmusic College (Perth), Ulla
represented Australia in the international competition of young
performers at the Crimea Music Festival in the Ukraine. Ulla
released her debut album in 2012 and won Perth NAIDOC’s
Artist of the Year Award.
The Australian Army Band Perth was originally a brass
band known as the Western Command Band, which was
converted to a concert band in 1972. Today, this professional
ensemble is comprised of Army Reserve Soldier musicians
who have performed with the likes of James Morrison and
Normie Rowe. They are sure to have you tapping your feet to
some of the finest swing, jazz and rock ‘n’ roll.

Akanna is a group of three classical female singers who stop
people in their tracks and bring audiences to their feet. Delight
in their harmonies that will take you a musical journey with
music by legendary singers Judy Garland, The Supremes, Bette
Midler, The Andrew Sisters and much more.
The Nueva Salsa Orchestra is the hottest Australian Latin band
this side of Havana. Specialising in Cuban, mambo, cha-cha and
salsa music, this dynamic ten-piece Latin music extravaganza will
amaze you with their power and energy. Put on your dancing
shoes and celebrate the start of the year Latin style.
Brothers Adam, Lance and Jacob Robinson perform the classic
Australian rock songs that we all know so well. Sing along to
your favourite songs by Cold Chisel, Daryl Braithwaite, Dragon,
Midnight Oil and much more.
Stratosfunk is Perth’s most sought after soul band performing
hits from the Motown era. Experience the smooth sounds of
Marvin Gaye, The Supremes and Aretha Franklin, complete with
three vocalists and a power-house horn section. The band’s
show Tell Mama: The Music of Etta James took out the award
for Best Music Show at the Perth Fringe World Festival 2013.

Held at various parks throughout the city, the free community
concerts cover a mix of themes and genres suitable for all ages.
