Franklin Academy Charter School Page 2 Morning Mrongin Drop-Off Reminders: Administration has noticed an increasing number of parents parking in a spot and allowing their students to walk through the parking lot to enter the school. This is putting your child in danger. Parents MUST drive through the drop-off line, come to a complete stop, allow your child to exit the car on the sidewalk side, and then leave. Holiday Happenings: Mr. Franco and his band students would like to invite everyone to our Winter Concert, which will be held in our cafeteria on Thursday, December 8th at 7:30pm. Enjoy performances by Symphonic Winds, Concert Jazz Band and Concert Winds. Aftercare will celebrate the holidays with a performance of the “Winter Express” on Friday, December 9th at 4:30pm. All Aftercare parents are welcome! We also now have designated parking spots for Administration. Please do not park in these spots at any time during the school day. Thank you for your cooperation. Charter School Parent Resource: Parents for Charter Schools, a free membership organization for parents and guardians of Florida charter school students, offers a great amount of information about charter school education. You may view their website and register to become a member at www.Parentsforcharterschools.org. You may also get to this site from our website www.franklin-academy.org by clicking on our “Parent Information” page and then on the link at the bottom of the page. Be sure to visit this site, it has a great amount of information that may be helpful to you! Service Hour Opportunities: If you would like to donate cases of water to be used by the students in the event of an emergency we would greatly appreciate receiving them in exchange for service hours. Please contact Mr. Fried at [email protected] to coordinate delivery of the water. We also are in need of cases of 8-1/2x11 copy paper. Remember, every $10 spent is 1 service hour. Cafeteria Etiquette: Parents, we ask your assistance with an issue that we have been addressing since the beginning of school. Students need to know the rules of our cafeteria and follow them daily. With the number of students served during each of our lunch periods, cooperation is a must! We are very fortunate to have wonderful parent volunteers to assist with lunch duty, however many parents have expressed concern regarding the behavior of some students during the lunchtime. We would hate to lose volunteers due to this, so please take a few moments to remind your children about the importance of obeying the rules listed below. Enter and Exit the Cafeteria Quietly Be Respectful Be Kind Be Responsible Thank the people who serve and help you. Franklin Academy Charter School Page 3 FYI: 1. Lost items may be found in our Lost and Found closet in the cafeteria! 5. Kindergarten-1st grade students should have a change of clothes in their backpack or classroom (labeled). This does not have to be an extra uniform. 6. Forgotten Items – In order to limit the number of classroom interruptions, items left at home (projects, books, club materials, etc.) will not be delivered to classrooms. PowerSchools: Administration has noticed that a number of families have not yet activated their PowerSchools account. This is a wonderful tool for parents to monitor their child’s grades, attendance, lunch balance and other items of interest. PowerSchools information was mailed or emailed to all families in late September. If you have any questions regarding setting up your account, please contact Katie Bost at [email protected].
