From the Panel - White/Blue (A): • Fussy cut (1) 23 ½” x 42 ½” rectangle. From the Christmas Stripe - Red/Green (B): • Fussy cut (2) 6 ½” x 60” length of fabric (LOF) strips centered on the black cake row. • Fussy cut (2) 6 ½” x 41” LOF strips centered on the black cake row. Page 1 Sewing Instructions G 1. Sew (1) 2” x 42 ½” Fabric G strip to each side of the 23 ½” x 42 ½” Fabric A rectangle. Sew (1) 2” x 26 ½” Fabric G G A strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric A rectangle. Trim the block to measure 25 ½” x 44 ½” to make the Center G Block (Fig. 1). Fig. 1 Trim to measure 25 ½” x 44 ½” G after the borders are added 2. Center (1) 6 ½” x 60” Fabric B strip on one side of the Center Block and pin in place. Start sewing the strip a ¼” from the top edge of the block and stop a ¼” from the bottom edge. DO NOT TRIM THE EXCESS. Repeat with the opposite side. 3. Repeat Step 2 to sew (1) 6 ½” x 41” Fabric B strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block, making sure to stop and start ¼” away from each end of the block top. To miter each corner, fold the Center Block on a diagonal, wrong side together. This should line up the strips from adjacent sides (Fig. 2). Sew the strips together end to end with diagonal seams and cut (2) 2” x 56 ½” strips. • (2) 1 ½” x 40 ½” WOF strips. From the Snowflake - Black (D), cut: • (7) 2 ½” x WOF strips. From the Swirl Dot - White (E), cut: • (7) 2 ½” x WOF strips. Fig. 2 4. Starting at the sewn seam (represented by the arrow in Figure 2), draw a 45-degree line to the edge of the fabric. Sew on the drawn line. Trim the excess fabric leaving a ¼” seam. Repeat this step with the remaining corners (Fig. 3). From the Folio - Red (F), cut: • (6) 2 ½” x WOF strips for the binding. From the Folio - Black (G), cut: • (2) 2” x 42 ½” WOF strips. • (2) 2” x 26 ½” WOF strips. From the Christmas Cakes - Black (Backing), cut: • (2) 56” x WOF strips for the backing. Sew (1) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric D strip and (1) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric E strip together lengthwise to make (1) DE strip set (Fig. 4). Repeat to make (7) DE strip sets total. 6. Cut the DE strip sets into (106) 2 ½” x 4 ½” DE strips (Fig. 5). 7. Sew (2) DE strips together to make (1) DE block (Fig. 6). Repeat to make (52) DE blocks total. make 7 sets Quilt Top Assembly (Refer to the Quilt Layout while assembling.) 11. Sew (1) 2” x 56 ½” Fabric C strip to each side of the Center Block. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 40 ½” Fabric C strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block. 12. Sew (1) Side Border to each side of the Center Block. Sew the Top Border and the Bottom Border to the Center Block to make the quilt top. 13. Layer and quilt as desired. cut 106 D E 14. Sew the (7) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric F strips together, end to end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press. 15.
