You can choose how to spread your 15 hours throughout the week. For example, you can take up to 15 hours for the whole week or less, or spread them throughout the year. Your chosen provider will be able to give you information about whether they have available places and the hours they can offer. How can I choose a childcare provider? Once eligible, we’ll send you a list of approved childcare providers to choose from. You may want to visit some different providers to see what they can offer and whether they have any places available – and to get a feel for where might be the best fit for your child. We can’t guarantee you a place with your preferred provider, but you should be able to find something to suit your needs within your local area. I can look after my child – why should I consider childcare? Play and learning in their early years is important for the healthy development of your child. Spending just a few hours a week in a different environment and with various people helps your child explore the world around them and give them a head start for school. What if my child is 3 or 4 years old? All 3 and 4-year olds in England are entitled to free early education of 15 hours a week. You will need to apply directly with your childcare provider.
