I-75 Six-Lane Project from Harborview Road to Sumter Boulevard Charlotte & Sarasota Counties Financial Project ID: 413043-2-52-01, 413044-2-52-01, 413044-3-52-01 December 2015 Project location map The Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) contractor, Astaldi Construction Corporation, begins work on Monday, January 4 to widen I-75 to six lanes from just south of Harborview Road to Sumter Boulevard. This 15.6 mile long project adds a 12-foot travel lane and 10-foot shoulder to the inside of existing northbound and southbound I-75. Crews begin work with installation of construction signs and silt fence for erosion control. Work occurs during the day and during nighttime/overnight hours. Lane closures on I-75 may occur in both the northbound and southbound travel lanes from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Variable message signs will be in place to alert drivers that work is underway. During the project, crews will widen the inside northbound and southbound travel lanes. Crews will make ramp improvements to some of the existing ramps at Harborview Road, Kings Highway, Toledo Blade Boulevard and Sumter Boulevard. A noise barrier will be constructed within FDOT’s right-of-way from Kings Highway to Rampart Boulevard on the west side of the roadway. Motorists should be aware of heavy machinery and large trucks entering and exiting the roadway. Please use caution and plan extra travel time while driving in this area.
