COMMUNITY
DIMENSIONS
TOOLS SHEET
STEP OF THE FBF CYCLE
This tool fits particularly well in
the ‘Event or Issue’ and
‘Describe and Analyse’ phases.
PURPOSE OF THE TOOL
This helps the community to consider what the key
elements of a healthy community are and identifies things
that might mean it is unhealthy. It helps us, as facilitators,
see what a healthy community might look like in this local
cultural context.

HOW TO USE THE TOOL
THINGS TO WATCH OUT FOR
1. The participants are asked to consider the diagram
opposite. What is going well in the community and
what is not going so well. You can either break the
participants down into smaller groups or individuals,
or carry it out with the whole group, but by the end
of the exercise you should have everyone’s ideas
on a central diagram.
Feel free to change and adjust this tool to suit the
situation. But remember: Make sure that
everyone can participate!
