Enrichment Week – 15th July to 20th July 2017 – Trip to Salou/Barcelona– Mrs Babb
Enrichment week is taking place at Ballakermeen High School during July 2017 and we would like to use
this opportunity to take a group of students from Year 9 to the popular Spanish city, Salou and Barcelona,
which is renowned for its diverse history and culture.
A provisional booking has been made to take a group of 40 students to Salou and Barcelona, leaving on
Saturday 15th of July 2017.
During the trip students will have the opportunity to visit various places that will enable them to gain
greater appreciation and knowledge of the Spanish culture and its people. We will be visiting the Nou
Camp stadium and museum, which is the home to one of Europe’s largest soccer teams (Barcelona FC).
Students will have a full day in one of Europe’s largest theme parks PortAventura. Students may also take
in the culture of Spain with a guided tour of the historic city where they can take plenty of memorable
pictures. Students will get the opportunity to either, relax in the sunshine, or experience the thrill of the
rides during a visit to one of Spain’s newest water parks (PortAventura Aqua Park). There will also be an
opportunity to shop in the MareMagnum Shopping Mall. Overall the trip to Barcelona is packed with
exciting and educational activities.
The cost of the trip will be approximately £850.00.

5 nights’ accommodation at a 3 Star hotel on a ‘Full Board basic’.

The trip will be run by Mrs Babb (Information Technology) in conjunction with Euro Study Tours.
If you would like your child to take part in this exciting trip, please detach, complete and return the Reply
Slip – Barcelona Trip and the form Parent/Carer Consent for an Educational Visit, with an initial
deposit of £200 by 21st October 2016 (non-refundable if student is successful in obtaining a place). Further
payments will be due on or before the following dates:

Places are limited so please ensure your deposit and forms are returned on time to avoid disappointment.
There will not be any extensions to the deadline on payments. Post-dated cheques are not accepted as
payment. Ballakermeen High School will not be liable for any charges incurred. If there are sufficient
numbers for the trip to go ahead, and your child is successful in gaining a place, then deposit cheques will
be cashed after October half-term. The deposit is non-refundable once this payment is banked. If for any
reason the trip does not receive the appropriate numbers to go ahead then a full refund of the deposit will
be given.
If this trip is oversubscribed, a draw will take place and your son/daughter will be informed if he/she has
been successful and then the payments will be banked. Deposits will be returned for those that are not
successful in gaining a place on the trip.
Staged payments are required by the tour operators once the trip has been booked and additional charges
may be incurred if you withdraw your child from the trip at a later date. Every attempt will be made to
find a replacement to offset the cost, but this cannot be guaranteed. Payment cards will be kept at the foyer
and a copy will be available on request.
Please also note: Valid individual passports are a pre-requisite and should be valid for at least three months
after the length of stay of this trip. Passports will be collected from students after TT week. In the
meantime, please supply a copy of the passport for our records. We can photocopy the passport at the
foyer if required.
On the reverse of this letter is a sample of the activities which may be held on island during
Enrichment Week 2016. Details of activities for Enrichment Week 2017 will be advertised at a later
date.
