C. The Unexpected Honor Bestowed Upon Mordecai: A Picture
of God’s Providence, Guidance, and Love for His People, 6:1-14
Introduction
How often do we allow events to change our
lives? Although we are fully aware as adults
of the unexpected turns of life; they always
seem to take us by surprise. In a moments
notice our life and destiny changes as we
alter it too our circumstance and situations of
life. When expectations are unfulfilled, we
tend to turn in the direction of the disappointment rather than cleaving and drawing
closer to God.
Esther 6:1-10 we will cover the following 8
alphabetical aspects.
A. The Kings sleepless night
B. The Kings decision to read the royal
records
C. The choice of records which the King
selected to read
Three things God did through divine providence on Mordecai’s behalf; just hours before
Haman’s plot to hang him.
1. He Kept the king awake
2. He decided to have the royal records read
3. He read the very deeds of Mordecais saving his life
Divine providence is a simple definition which means God’s guidance and care. He sustains and
guides human destiny.
We must not worry about what the enemy is plotting but concentrate on what God is
PLANNING for our lives. Jer. 29:11.
CAN YOU GIVE AN EXAMPLE OF DIVINE PROVIDENCE IN YOUR LIFE?
D. The Kings detainment in rewarding Mordecai
E. Haman’s timely early arrival
F. The kings vague question to Haman
1) It did not indicate who he wished to reward.
2) The question stirred Haman’s pride, he thought he was going to be honored.

2. How God’s Providential Care Protects His People ….
Gen. 28:15; 2 Chr. 16:9; Lu. 12:7; 21:18; I Pe. 1:5; 5:7; 2 Ti. 1:12; and Jude 24.
3. God’s Providential Care Sustains His People…
Ex.19:4; De. 33:27; Ps. 18:35; 28:7; 40:17; Is 41:10; 43:1-2; 46:4; and 50:9.
4. How God’s Providential Care Preserves His People.
6:11-14 – Ex ample of dishonor, shame, Humiliation, Haman’s abasement, His disgrace.
Haman was publicly humiliated while Mordecai was honored. The kings prime minister was
about to suffer one of the most humiliating experiences of his life! This is only the beginning of
his woes!
Summary
Never focus on what an enemy is doing to you because
all those who oppose you will be brought to justice and
the vengeance of the Lord God will repay them accordingly. Remain in tact, keep your focus, stay in His presence and He will lead and guide you into all truth.
