Deputy Director for Operations, University of New Mexico Health Sciences
Library and Informatics Center. Provide program leadership and support across
the blended organization that includes Technology Support, Library and
Educational Services, Biomedical Informatics, and the HSC Information Security
Office, to spearhead assessment and process improvement. Facilitate and
develop a research portfolio for HSLIC and serve as principal investigator for
both technology and library-related grants/contracts as well as serve as a
collaborator on interdisciplinary projects with academic units outside HSLIC.
2012 - 2014
Director, Information Technology and Manager for Instructional Technology,
New Mexico State University Grants, Grants, New Mexico. Managed all areas of
community college campus technology support. Provided instructional design
consultation to faculty in the area of online and blended course development
using the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). Designed, developed,
implemented and maintained campus website, digital signage, staff and student
computer support. Supervised purchase, implementation and maintenance of
over $500,000 worth of new classroom technology, including complete
audio/visual/lighting renovation of 250-seat theater. Led three-person
collaboration to teach a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) with 1,300
students from 67 countries.

Self-employed pursuit of personal passions. Outstanding Graduate in
Educational Psychology Masters program at the University of New Mexico
(2012). Coursework emphasized research methods, analysis, and assessment, as
well as instructional design considerations for implementing Learning

Management Systems (LMS). Published essays in adult development journal
(2011) and journalism textbook reader (2012). Wrote and self-published Here’s
Something About General Semantics, a primer for critical thinking and cognitive
awareness (2009). Created 30K-word online tutorial for WordPress content
management system, targeted to beginners, with two-dozen instructional videos
and over 100 illustrations. Developed skills at video editing, web development,
client support and instructional design.
2002 – 2008
Adjunct faculty, Schieffer School of Journalism, Texas Christian University (TCU).
Fort Worth, Texas (2005-2008). Developed curriculum and taught “General
Semantics for Mass Communications Practitioners.” Effectively implemented
eCollege LMS and a variety of multimedia, interactive classroom techniques to
engage students in developing critical thinking and cognitive awareness skills.
Visiting lecturer in General Semantics at University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV,
2007) and Alverno College (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) for summer term courses
(2002-2005). Developed and taught adult continuing education classes at TCU
and Southern Methodist University (SMU, 2002-2007).
Community columnist for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram in 2005 and 2008.
2002 – 2007
Trustee and Executive Director, Institute of General Semantics, a 501(c)(3)
educational nonprofit corporation. Fort Worth, Texas. Led revitalization of the
long-standing organization: effected a merger with a competing organization;
relocated the organizational headquarters from New York to Texas; directed a
successful capital campaign to raise funds for acquiring and remodeling a
permanent headquarters space; and transformed the educational outreach,
publishing, membership, and accounting operations. Worked toward a strategic
partnership with a major university. Organized and hosted two international
conferences, annual seminars, workshops, and academic presentations at
national teacher conferences. Supervised design and production of trade show
booths, marketing collateral, websites, and journal cover art.
Conducted three-week lecture series in General Semantics at universities and
institutions in and around Mumbai, India, including the three-day National
Workshop in General Semantics hosted by the Centre for Contemporary Theory
in Vadodara in 2007.

closely with a Middle East customer to define and propose a $50M military
communications system.

Program Manager, Raytheon Systems Company. Lewisville, Texas. (In 1997,
Raytheon Systems Company acquired the Texas Instruments Defense Systems and
Electronics Group.) Managed proposal efforts for a Full-Scale Engineering
Development program for next generation anti-armor system for the U.S. Army.

Negotiated $200M weapon system production contract that resulted in a $3B,
multiyear procurement for a mission-critical system. Implemented
cost/schedule earned value performance management system for $400M
engineering and production program. Managed business operations for
international systems development and aircraft integration programs.
Conducted strategic risk analyses to define new commercial business
opportunities for defense-related technologies. Facilitated blue sky workshops
and prepared corporate investment proposals.
