Carrying on the tradition of a successful team is present this year under the leadership of the returning seniors. With a 16-0 record, the boys seem very confident going into the rest of the year. Last Saturday the boys hosted the Panther Invitational ending the tournament as champions with a 2-0 record. Home games coming up in the month of May are Jackson Christian on the 14th, Burr Oak on the 20th, Tekonsha on the 24th, and Portage Northern on the 31st. Good Luck Panthers! “This is a rebuilding year,” quoted from Coach Doug Robinson. While returning 5 players, none of them seniors, the golf team hopes to rebuild for success. Returner Justin Smith is “tearing it up” on the course averaging a score of 41 for 9 holes in league play. Justin is 3rd in the league standings. Congratulations Justin and keep up the good work! The Panthers defeated Homer easily by 48 strokes on Thursday, April 29th. Shooting 40’s in the Homer matchwere Justin Smith, Jacob Moody, Rob Lipscomb and Trevor Haas. The Tiger Invitational, an 18 hole tournament hosted by St. Phillip, will be next up on Saturday May 1st. JV Baseball Under the coaching of Coach Kevin Langs, the boys JV team will sure to have an exciting year. With a solid line-up, the team hopes to establish the fundamentals for the varsity level. With teams coming up of Battle Creek Central, Homer, Kalamazoo Christian, Colon, and Union City the JV team should see some good competition. Good luck boys! Varsity Softball The grass is cut and the diamond is prepped for another year of softball. Under a new coaching staff led by head coach Jeff Taylor, the girls hope to have a successful season just like years past. Pitching this year has been shared between Janae Langs, Tiffanie Richardson, Chelsey Piper, and Ashley Pyle. The Lady Panther’s have enjoyed a 5-7 record which leaves plenty of room for improvement. Last Saturday the girls hosted the Panther Invitational. The girls made it to the championship game but came up just short of a win. Upcoming games include St. Philip on the 4th, Galesburg-Augusta on the 6th and North Adams on the 11th. Good luck ladies! JV Softball The finally formed JV team, under the coaching duo of the Loegel’s, has played one game against Galesburg-Augusta. As the year goes on so will improvements. Opponents scheduled for the Lady Panthers are Kalamazoo Home School, Homer, Bellevue, and Union City. Good luck with the rest of the season! Page 2 Track With little numbers on this year’s team, track members are participating in more events. “There aren’t as many girls this year so everyone has to compete in more events which gets tiring,” said Nicala Dobbertin. Even with the extra load the track team has competed very well against league teams. The Track squad only hosted one home meet this year and that took place last week. The next meet is at Bellevue with Jackson Christian and Tekonsha. Run, jump, and throw hard!
