Each year, every lane mile loses 1 year of remaining service life (RSL), If pavement treatments are performed,
years are added to the pavement (extended service life – ESL).
Steuben County has 420 miles of hard surfaced roads; therefore the network loses 420 miles of life per year.
In 2016, Steuben County gained 399 mile years (ESL) through pavement treatments & lost 420 mile years.
399 ESL gained / 420 RSL lost = 0.95
Steuben County recovered 95% of the county paved roadway network life.
