WPA Content Working Group
TERMS OF REFERENCE
Purpose
Over the past 12 months, WPA has undertaken a full review of the current coaching and
refereeing accreditation frameworks, the organisations’ education pathways and its current
and potential delivery mechanisms. To date this review has been completed, an overarching
framework has been developed, a new curriculum has been drafted and the build of an
online delivery platform is being investigated.
The next step in this significant project for the water polo community is the development
new course content. In order to progress the project through preparing actual course
material, WPA will be forming a specific “Content Working Group”.
The purpose of the WPA Content Working Group will be to bring together skilled individuals
who have the necessary education and course writing expertise as well as flexibility to
commit their time to assisting in completing the content of new course modules. This group
will work with subject matter experts and the appointed online platform supplier to ensure
that quality content is developed consistently and maximises new e-learning functionalities.
The working group will work under instruction of the WPA National Participation Manager
and be in operation for the extent of the project timeline.
Timeframe
The Education Working Group will be in operation for the following timeframe;
Commencement:
June 2017
Completion:
December 2017
Within this timeframe, it is required that the written content for individual modules
contained within 8 new education courses will be finalised by the group, in consultation with
subject matter experts and existing stakeholders and committees.
Composition
The Content Working Group will comprise of four individuals with the following skill set;
Essential:
• Be minimum 18 years of age
• Have a sound understanding of water polo
• Have an education or course writing occupation or background
• Have at least 3 years refereeing/officiating and/or coaching experience
• Competent in using Microsoft word and file/video sharing online tools
• Flexibility in availability to produce content as per development timelines and
participate in meetings/teleconferences as required.
Desirable:

Has experience as a water polo club administrator
Have experience and/or qualifications in the physical preparation of athletes (e.g.
recover, movement techniques, strength and conditioning etc.)
Have experience in working with and communicating with children or target groups
Roles and Responsibilities
i.
To provide advice and recommendations on curriculum development
ii.
To assist in the collation, review and update of the available, outdated course
material
iii.
To review content written by subject matter experts and collate/edit to form
completed content modules
iv.
To write new course content in line with the finalised curriculum and to the predetermined timelines
v.
To work cooperatively with external suppliers to develop content in line with delivery
functionality and technology options
vi.
To work cooperatively with other WPA Committees/Boards, advisory panels, State
Associations and State committees in the consultation and approval processes of final
content development.
Project workload will be allocated between the WPA office and the Content Working Group
members to assist in a swift development and implementation process.
Remuneration
Participation on the WPA Content Working group is voluntary however any travel expenses
incurred will be reimbursed (if approved in writing by WPA National Participation Manager
beforehand).
Contributions to this rewarding project will be publically acknowledged and noted within
course material.
